Petey Cortlandt, the off spring of two of my favorite characters Opal and Palmer Cortlandt. Last Friday, July 11, 2008 Petey or Pete as he is now calling himself these days, shows up on Colby Chandler's doorstep. Considering Pete has only been on a for few days, I really have no opinion of him at this point, but something is really bugging me, where is the red hair???? Did Mama Opal give him a cut and color at the Glamorama before stopping by the Chandlers' to impress his dear Colby?

AMC is trying to re-create the beauty and the geek theme. Only problem is- GH is doing that right now. And this is looking like a lame attempt.

you make a great point....Petey should be a womanizing cad, not a geek....how can anyone who remembers the Petey fantasy scenes with Kendall, Simone, Mia, and Greenlee imagine him as a geek? Besides, nerds/geeks very rarely catch on these days. Spinelli is probably the shining example of an exception to that but think of the Reese character on Passions, that dude who helped Bridgette on B&B when the baby swapping crap was going on, or even Adrian Korbell on Y&R who has seen a terrible tumble since Adrienne left as Colleen.
It's risky to recast such a popular character and turn them into a nerd/geek when many people remember how great the last Petey was.

You're right about the geek thing not working. First thing I thought when I saw him was "they've Spinillified Petey!" And I'd forgotten about the fantasy sequences he'd had about Kendall et all. Petey should be running about 3 different scams right about now, not hypothesising what kind of blood is on nuColby's car (BTW, ewww!). I'll give him a chance until they figure out what to do with him; I didn't like Colby at first, either. but I grew to like the original actress.

I haven't formed an opinion about Pete yet. But I will say that if he's Tad's little brother, he should be trying to shack up with all the young ladies of Pine Valley. While trying to one-up his pop for his company. Give it time thou, Tad might hook up with his little bro and teach him all about being "The Cad"!!!

In recent years nerd/geek characters have done pretty well in terms of popularity. At least on primetime. Personally I like Petey so far. They have already hinted at a scheming side to of his personality so I don't think he will be one of those super sweet geek characters.

Not liking this petey so far and it doesnt help that he is playing opposite this colby (I miss AC)
I was hoping that he would take the info and blackmail adam into a job at Chandler, have the scene were palmer goes ape and then have pete tell him that he took the job to spy on chandler. I could totally imagine the sly smile and unbridled pride palmer would take in his chip off the cortlandt block.

Well if AMC were trying to get someone like Spinelli of GH then Petey Cortlandt just doesn't cut it for me.
