Vincent Pastore Guests on General Hospital
EW.com is reporting that Soprano's star Vincent Pastore is joining General Hospital for a brief stint "as Maximus Giambetti, a big-time mobster who comes to Port Charles to deal with his two sons, Sonny's bodyguards Max (Derek Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood). (And yes, they're brothers in real life.) Pastore's Max hits town thinking his eldest is actually the local mob boss — an idea that his son may have helped foster — and is none too happy to find out about his sons' lowly status in the biz."
Now this is how you bring a mobster to Port Charles. Tying such a character to Max and Milo, whose characters are enjoyed even amongst the "anti mob" fanbase, and using him to give us a glimpse into who they are is much more appealing than just bringing more and more mobsters to town without a real connection to the show.
Hopefully this is enjoyable to watch as it is to envision.

I'll say this again:
Like the mob or hate the mob, Vincent Pastore is a good "stunt casting" and could garner some good publicity for the show. And as Luke said, it's organic to current characters the audience already likes.
It's more like Betty White as Stephanie's mom on B&B than Kathy Hilton as a side show attraction on Y&R.

Aww! I love Vinny. It would be some good comic relief. I think he would be great with Max and Milo as they are pretty funny themselves.
I can just imagine Vinny smacking them upside their heads or something.
I just wonder what made Vinny decide to do a soap? He was good on Celebrity Apprentice. The episode where he resigned was great.

I have never seen The Sopranos though I know it was critically acclaimed. Great...more time for the mobsters!

Like it or not, the only stories these days that are not tied to crime some way are Scrubs and Noah/Anna/Eli.
The drug storyline that LuSam, Nik and Emily 2.0 are in is going to have mob ties.

I never watched The Sopranos, but I hear there was a character on that show who watched B&B. I wonder why they chose to feature B&B instead of GH, which would have seemed a more obvious choice with all its mob ties. But then again, Stephanie Forrester is no worse than your avarage GH mobster. That old broad can be quite a gangsta. She'd whoop Sonny's ass any day!

this is awesome news. the reason why i started watching GH back in the 90's was because of the mob aspect.. i loved how everyone in port charles had a certain influence with the mob and how they were either friends or related to sonny/jason..add in the daily everyday drama.. and i was instantly pulled in..so me being a saprano's fan through and through. i can't wait till Vincent Pastore makes his GH appearance. this guy rocks. also for anyone that thinks this stefanie character could whoop sonny's ass.Lmao. you should see videos of sonny when the dude was ruthless a few years back. also when lorenzo was in his office pulling a gun on him. sonny straight up shot the dude point blank in the head. that's just one of many badass stunts sonny has done that qualifies this dude as the real deal.

Yeah, well I remember when Jagger kicked his butt in his own home no less. Judging by the way you said it you don't know Stephanie. Well let me tell you, pick anyone from any soap, in any era and Stephanie could go toe to toe with them. Victor (Y&R), Lucinda (ATWT), Stefano (DAYS, in a way she already did), Adam (AMC), Dorian (OLTL), and yes even the almighty Sonny. Susan Flannery is amazing beyond words.

i think that's narrow minded to say that...i mean what's wrong with GH having a certain aspect that's exciting to the mobular fanbase? to be honest nobody is stopping you from watching something else instead of hating on the mob. funny how people can bitch and moan about the constant mob activity. but ignore that GH was always about the mob before sonny/jason came along. if you go to TV guilde.com.. it cleary says in the info section of GH that the storys revovle around fast pace action..ie"mob shootouts" and adventure s/l's.

i don't need to know stefanie. anyone that kills for a living and has no conscious of doing so is the true baddie. this stefanie characters sounds like she's all talk and no action. matter of fact. can someone please post a video of her so-called ruthless actions? if you havan't checked out my GH video of the mob bye now. i would love for to see someone top it. btw stefano is a cartoon villain. he has no show of anything. he hasn't done any crimes that qualifies him being on the list of baddies.

I agree with that general hospital mob. The mob is not the problem with this show. I also started watching GH in the 90s. 1993 to be exact. I have stated in previous posts that GH has for a long time, even before Sonny ever came on the scene, had mob focused story lines. The problem with this show is poor writing and little to no character development. This show is frustrating to watch because anyone who has been a fan of this show for any length of time knows the greatness to which this show can reach. I know I'm going to sound like a broken record but look at Duke and Anna, Luke and Laura, Sonny and Brenda (c. 555-5555). We want romance, passion, adventure and action. If GH could do that and mob story lines there would be less complaining I guarantee you.

well we have action and shootouts every nowadays.. as for the adventure. if GH had the budget to do on-location shoots like they had in the 90's. then yeah i would agree. but ABC no longer is finacially able to afford any of that. character devoloment also plays a big part..using vets cost money too. i don't think anyone realizes that. also i do see character devoloment with the characters that are being used. like the zacharra's for example. the writers gave them a real backstory. it wasn't just a run in gun fight for territory the old fasion GH style. not to mention look at what their doing with the next day previews? all to save money. hopefully if ratings waren't so damn low. things would inprove. JMO.

First and foremost, I think the show should be changed to your post name General Hospital Mob. Secondly I have watched this show since 1978 and yes the mob was always around, however, it never ever ever completely dominated the show. All we have now plot points, stories are unfinished, characters are left who knows where and we the fans should just forget them but so long as Sonny & Jason are around everything is fine. Not in mine book. For goodness sake they won't even give Jason the love interest who is part of a former core family, the Webers!!!! Could you just see if the Quatermaines were part of this story??? The possibilties are endless. How times do I need to see Sonny pacing his living room or going through papers announcing every 5 minutes 'I'm retired! I'm retired'!, I am sure the MB gets bored doing that!!!!!!!
I get that alot of you watched this show since the late 90's, if I did, I would think it was a great show. Bottom line, the writing is horrible. I am sure the veteran actors would love to work if given the chance, heck I am sure alot of them are already set for life so money may not even be an issue, they may just want to work!!! The show should have something for everybody it always did and in the last 8 years it has not at all!

why is the writing horrible? because the show features the mob front and center? i get you dispise the mob..but even if the show had balance like it did before. there will still be some of you guys saying how much you want the mob gone period regardless. it's obvious nothing will make you guys happy. their will always be that excuse that the mob is taking up to much screentime. or that your favorites arn't be shown 24/7. even back in the 90's people were constantly complaining..so what difference would it make now if GH made changes? what is that old saying?.."You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time.
But you cannot please all of the people all of the time..same thing reflects here. i know your entitled to your opinion. i respect that. but just so you know. writing about the mob does NOT equal bad writing. also GH is based in a new york area. where in reallife theirs a place called General Hospital. a medical facility. that's what comes to mind when i think of the name GH.

The writing is not horrible because the mob is front and center. When you responded to my post you mentioned the action and adventure but left out the most important parts of what I wrote and what a soap opera is supposed to be about ROMANCE AND PASSION! If this show actually had those 2 things maybe the ratings would be up and they could afford action and adventure. And when I talk about character development I don't mean vets. I mean writing where we see characters growing and heart felt emotions being shown, not, me angry, me want Jane. I am not mob bashing let me tell you. But characters are continually being sacrificed at the alter of Sonny and Jason. It's like AMC and the character of Babe. People talk about The Sopranos but that show was a drama on HBO. This show is a soap opera on ABC. Either be a soap opera or go home. No one was more of a Sonny fan than I was. I always rooted for him and Brenda over her and Jax but the character has gotten stale. He's been doing the same thing for over 10 years now. People are always going to complain about something, I agree, but this show needs to change. Most of the soaps are bad but I specifically can't watch this show because I love it the most and it's become too painful to watch. There are so many examples that I could list of characters and stories blown for nonsense.

Currently, GH is a mobster dominated show. Last week TPTB announce a Russian mobster will be joining the show. And now the show announces ANOTHER mobster is joining the show. The show is already saturated with mobsters. Fans have been saying the show is too mob-focused for the last 5 years. Yes, the writing is horrible but so is the idea of adding ANOTHER mobster. Do something different!

Yeh I love Max and Milo, I was thrilled to see Max get a brother and loved that it was his real life brother, and think it's just as cool that they are cousins with Tyler.....but it's just not enough....Sonny is one note, he's been doing the same thing for like 10 yrs, at least Jason could maybe go back to being a Q, but what's Sonny gonna do? LOL This is his life...Mobsters 'R Us...
