Wishful Casting: Where In The (Soap) World Could Kim Zimmer Go? pt. I

Okay, let me first say that there is no, I repeat NO concrete talk of the fabulous Kim Zimmer leaving her legendary role as Reva Shayne on Guiding Light, but you'd have to have been living under a rock this week in Soapland not to know that Ms. Kim is a bit, shall we say cross, about the way things are going with her character at GL. So of course, you know me, my mind couldn't help but wonder where else the multiple-Emmy winner might end up should she decide to leave broadcasting's longest-running program.

Kim to Young and the Restless as Dr. Casey Reed

I was chatting with one of Daytime Confidential's faithful visitors in the comments section of the post regarding Zimmer's current state of unhappiness about how great it would be to see Zimmer go head on with Eric Braeden's Victor Newman on Young and the Restless (Feel free to remind me who you are as that post is now enormous and I couldn't sift  through the comments quick enough! LOL). So following in that vein, should Zimmer opt not to re-sign with GL, I propose she join the Bell sudser as a recast of Nikki's doctor sis Casey. READ MORE

Wishful Casting: Jensen Buchanan And Stephanie Gatschet As Days Of Our Lives' Deveraux Dolls

Poor Matt Ashford (ex-Jack, Days of Our Lives). First his leading lady Missy Reeves (ex-Jennifer) decided to pack up her real life family with former Young and the Restless heartthrob Scott Reeves (ex-Ryan) and move to Nashville. Then Jack's daughter and last immediate family link in Salem, Abby, decided to skip town when her portrayer Ashley Benson opted to leave for greener pastures and highly-debated fashion choices. I liked the dress by the way!

I say it's time the Family Deveraux returned home to Salem and I believe I've found two perfect blonde soap dreams to fill the popular roles of Jennifer and Abby Deveraux in multi-soap vet Jensen Buchanan  and former Guiding Light ingenue Stephanie Gatschet (ex-Tammy).

Buchanan, most popular for her roles as Sarah Buchanan on One Life to Live and Vicky and Marley Hudson on Another World, would fit in great in Salem as mega heroine Jennifer Horton Deveraux. READ MORE

Wishful Casting: Forbes March as Days of Our Lives' Eric Brady

Okay, I usually don't do two Wishful Casting posts in the same 24-hour time frame, but the rumor about Forbes March (Nash) leaving One Life To Live  got me to thinking of how excellent it would be if March joined Days of Our Lives as the new Eric Brady!

March and my other recent Days casting wish Dax Griffin as Brady Black would play well off of each other as stepbrothers and rivals for the affections of Nicole and/or Chloe. March has already proven he plays well off neurotic blondes with his hit pairing with Bree Williamson (Tess/Jessica) on OLTL, so I suspect he would work well with Ari Zuker's Nicole.

Eric Brady was Nicole's first love, the one she gave up for money when Kate paid her $5 million to marry Lucas instead of Eric in order to help Lucas gain custody of Will. Bring back fan fave Bryan Datillo as Lucas and of course throw in the brilliant Alison Sweeney as Eric's twin Sami, complete with her faux-hubby EJ and Days could have the best thirtysomething cast in daytime.

Wishful Casting: Dax Griffin as Days of Our Lives' Brady Black

While I have to admit it has long been my fantasy for Dax Griffin (ex-Tim, Sunset Beach; ex-Sid, Passions; ex-Justin, All My Children; ex-Shane, Bold and the Beautiful) to join the cast of Days of Our Lives as Sami's long lost twin Eric, I think it would better serve the current storyline if the blonde stud came on as Sami and Eric's little stepbrother Brady Black.

With both Chloe and Nicole back in Salem front and center and Brady's nemesis/uncle Philip jockeying for power at Kiriakis Shipping, it's the perfect time for Victor's favorite grandson to show his face. Not to mention the fact that he's now a DiMera. How would Brady get along with his new cousin EJ, the man who shot his father? And what about Brady's father? John of course is a few kiwis shy of a fruit salad, would Brady come home and declare his Robo-Pop insanse to secure control of the docks and Victor's favor, much to Philip's chagrin? The possibilities are endless.

Passions' Hartley And Mills to General Hospital? James Hyde As The New Mike Horton On Days? Relax, Just More Wishful Casting

While I readily admit the zany, often depraived daytime serial Passions never found its way into my heart or onto my DVR list for very long, it can't be denied that the show had one of the most dedicated and talented casts in television history.  Series stars Lindsay Hartley, Juliet Mils, Galen Gerring, McKenzie Westore, Ben Masters, Tracey Ross and others have stuck with the soap through almost nine tumultuous years on the air, first on NBC and then DirecTV. With DirecTV deciding to cancel the show and NBC unable to find yet another new home for the soap, Passions is set to cast it's final spell August 11, 2008. With that in mind, this Wishful Casting is dedicated to finding new homes for select members of the show's spellbinding cast.

Lindsay Hartley to General Hospital as Olivia

In a recent episode of the CBS/Days episode of the Daytime Confidential podcast I talked about how I would love to see Passions leading lady Lindsay Hartley (Theresa) take on the role of Dorian's daughter Adrianna on One Lite to Live. Something tells me with an actress as fiery and beautiful as Hartley in the role, the character wouldn't induce as many yawns as she currently does. However, it is on General Hospital that I feel the exotic Hartley would best be utilized.  READ MORE

Wishful Casting: Go East Billy Warlock, Go East

With his wife Julie Pinson (ex-Billie, Days of Our Lives/ex-Eve, Port Charles/ex-Shiloh, Young and the Restless) heading East to assume the role of Janet Ciccone on As the World Turns, industry observers can't help but wonder if and when Billy Warlock (ex-Frankie, Days/ex-AJ, General Hospital/ex-Ben, Y&R) will pop up on one of the New York-based sudsers. Any of the four Gotham-based soaps (All My Children, One Life To Live, ATWT or Guiding Light) would definitely benefit from an actor of Warlock's caliber, so this Wishful Casting session is dedicated to helping daytime's answer to Michael J. Fox land a new gig.

A Chandler Homecoming on All My Children?

Ricky Paull Goldin is soon to make his first appearance as the youngest Martin son Jake, so that All My Children clan seems to be in good shape, meanwhile the Chandlers could definitely use some fleshing out. Why not bring Warlock on as Stuart Chandler's long missing adopted son Scott? READ MORE
