Goddesses of Vengeance: 10 Primetime Vixens Who've Made Revenge an Artform

While TV audiences are loving every minute of Amanda Clarke/Emily Thorne's (Emily VanCamp) deliciously-wicked plot to avenge her father on ABC's smash Wednesday night sudser Revenge, Em's antics are far from groundbreaking. The seemingly-sweet, yet deadly-as-a-pitbull socialite hails from a long line of primetime drama queens who knew all-too-well that revenge is a dish best served after dark.

10.) Amanda Clarke/Emily Thorne, Revenge

Hell hath no fury like a cherubic little girl, whose idyllic life was turned upside down. When Amanda Clarke's (Emily VanCamp) father was hauled out of their magical, Hamptons beach house and framed for a crime he didn't commit, she lost everything. Flash forward to Amanda learning the truth—that her late father's mistress Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) had conspired with her husband Conrad (Henry Cznery), and their treacherous inner circle of vipers, to make the world believe Amanda's dad David Clarke (James Tupper) had betrayed his country by funding terrorists—and it's easy to see why this particular East Coast heiress has more on her mind than Spring Fashion Week.

Now all grown up and going by a new name, butter-wouldn't-melt-in-her-mouth socialite Emily Thorne is determined to pay back all of her father's enemies one-by-one on ABC's Revenge. Whether it's drugging one of her target's soup, in order to out his extramarital indiscretions with his wife's best friend, or getting her oddball, tech wunderkind minion Nolan (Gabriel Mann) to literally computer hack apart the lives of those who cross her, Emily is proving she will stop at nothing to get justice for her father.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if falling in love with childhood crush Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler), a townie in financial trouble;  or Daniel (Joshua Bowman), the Grayson's dreamboat scion (Or both!) will be enough to derail Emily's plans. Let's hope not, because we're having entirely too much fun watching the mega rich and misbehaving get what's coming to 'em!

Did Ugly Betty's "Alternative Lifestyle" Storylines Lead to Its Cancellation?

What really led to the demise of ABC’s Ugly Betty? In an interview with Zap2it, former Ugly Betty star Eric Mabius alleges an ABC executive–no longer with the network–had a problem with the show’s various "alternative-lifestyle” storylines. According to the article, the executive was responsible for the show's time slot changes and lack of promotion.

"I think there was a little bit too much alternative-lifestyle humor for a certain executive, but despite having no support from certain people, the fans really made a difference. The universality of Erthe topic and the nature of what was portrayed on the show were reflective of how we felt about each other as human beings."

Zap2it reports,

Mabius says the executive in question was uncomfortable with the ongoing story line about Betty's teenage nephew, Justin, and his awakening gay identity, but the same man also was unhappy with Michael Urie's giddily over-the-top work as Marc, Wilhelmina Slater's (Vanessa Williams) flamboyant assistant, despite the fact that the character was a huge fan favorite.

Read the entire article at Zap2it. Mabius will next appear on the BBC America sci-fi series Outcasts. It premieres on June 18. Watch a promo for Outcasts after the jump!

America Ferrera Teams With P&G to Create Bilingual, Interactive MTV Telenovela

Ugly Betty may be finishing it's four-year run, but America Ferrera isn't out of the telenovela business just yet. According to Access Hollywood and The Hollywood Reporter, Ferrera has partnered with MTV, Ben Silverman's Electus shingle and Procter and Gamble Productions to develop a bilingual, interactive soap opera titled Pedro & Maria.

Ferrera will serve as one of the project's executive producers, along with Jarred Weisfeld and Ian Kleinert of Objective Entertainment. Quiara Alegria Hudes, who penned the Broadway smash In The Heights, will write the script and also serve as one of the show runners.

"The Latino population is an under-represented and under-served segment of the audience, and I am excited to help bring this relevant show to MTV," said David Janollari, executive vp, scripted development at MTV.

P&G is set to "lend creative support" to the project, according to THR, as well as create original commercials and branded entertainment projects for its health and beauty brands in conjunction with the project. READ MORE
