The CW’s Ringer is one of the most anticipated new series of the fall, in no small part due to the fact it means Buffy the Vampire Slayer icon Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to TV.  However, that doesn’t mean Gellar is taking her loyal legions of Buffy fans for granted. According to TV Guide, Gellar told reporters at the 2011 Comic-Con she’s not trying to compete with her iconic previous series.

"I'm not trying to re-create Buffy and I'm not trying to top it," she said. "I'm trying to do something that the fans, who have been so good to me, will love. I'm a television watcher, and this is the kind of show that I would watch."

The summer TV season is picking up steam. With Pretty Little Liars, White Collar and Covert Affairs having already premiered, other summer favorites are set to return. Tonight USA’s hit series Burn Notice returns and ABC’s relationship driven cop drama Rookie Blue kicks off its sophomore season.
