Death apparently does become CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless. While a whopping 72 percent of Daytime Confidential readers voted it wasn't worth killing off Delia Abbott to give the show a powerful new umbrella storyline, the Nielsen ratings are telling a much different story. General Hospital celebrated beating The Young and the Restless among Women 18-49 the week of October 7, but there is nothing like slaughtering yet another Abbot to put Y&R back on top. According to The Wrap, Y&R reclaimed its demo throne during the week of October 20 and hit an eight-month high in total viewers.
However, just because Y&R took back the crown doesn't mean General Hospital isn't still going strong, thanks to Robin's (Kimberly McCullough) return. Reportedly,
“GH” still enjoyed a two-year high in that demo with a 1.2, as well as a two-year high in the women 25-54 demo, and reached a six-month high in total viewers with an average 2.821 million.
ABC popped a lot of corks when Good Morning America dethroned the Today Show as the top morning show, but with great success comes big pay raises. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Elliott, Robin Roberts and Lara Spencer are all in contract negotiations at the same time, in what has been dubbed "a nightmare" situation for Ben Sherwood, head of ABC News, by a competitor. Reportedly,
Spencer and Elliott, who co-hosted the summer spinoff Good Afternoon America in 2012, are said to be looking to grow their brands through larger roles at ABC -- or elsewhere. Meanwhile, Roberts, 52, who returned full-time to GMA in September after a four-day-a-week schedule following a bone marrow transplant, has plenty of options within the Disney-ABC organization, including her own talk show. "There are a lot of things on the table for Robin," says one source. READ MORE
