Meredith Vieira Leaving The Today Show?

It looks as if Meredith Vieira may be able to sleep in a bit later in the morning very soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vieira will leave The Today Show in June. Reportedly, Ann Curry will replace Vieira as Matt Lauer’s co-host on the No. 1 rated morning show. the announcement could come down as soon as next week.

By elevating Curry and Morales, Today executives have the benefit of personalities who are familiar to viewers at a time of pronounced tumult in television news in general.

Will Katie Couric Return to Daytime?

With Katie Couric’s contract at CBS up in June, speculation about her next career move has intensified. According to Deadline, “Sources indicate that Couric is once again leaning towards a change, and this time it involves her following in Oprah Winfrey's footsteps as producer and host of her own syndicated talk show.” 

A talk show isn’t Couric’s only option. Reportedly, NBC is interested in bringing their former star back into the fold and other major networks have also expressed interest in her too. However, CBS isn’t letting her go without a fight and according to Deadline, CBS “is said to be preparing an extensive package to present to Couric.”

Television syndicators are reportedly salivating at the prospect of bringing CBS News anchor Katie Couric back to daytime television via a female-friendly talk show, according to Broadcasting & Cable. Nate Berkus Hospitalized With Appendicitis

Oprah protégé Nate Berkus has been hospitalized with appendicitis, according to People. The talk show host will undergo surgery and taping of The Nate Berkus Show has been postponed.

"He was on the Today show this morning and he wasn't feeling well," a rep for the company that produces The Nate Berkus Show tells PEOPLE exclusively. "He powered through and then went straight to the hospital after that and they learned he had appendicitis."
