While ABC Daytime's struggling talker The View does precious little to promote the lineup's flagship serial General Hospital these days (Wish we could say the same for The Chew!), CBS Daytime has managed to create the perfect mixture of suds, game shows and a fun, light-hearted chatfest to highlight them all.
In a new, extensive report from Broadcasting & Cable, CBS Daytime V.P Angelica McDaniel discussed how The Talk compliments soaps The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Said McDaniel:
"With the addition of The Talk, we’ve found a formula that works for us with dramas, game and talk,” says McDaniel, CBS Daytime's senior VP. “It may have been controversial at the time to let go of a soap to bring on a talk show, but The Talk is now a platform for us to highlight our soap stars.”
Before signing off on Wednesday, the women of The Talk paid tribute to deceased CBS Daytime colleague Jeanne Cooper. Co-host Julie Chen recalled some of The Young and the Restless star’s accomplishments, as Sheryl Underwood attempted to fight back tears. Watch the emotional clip after the jump. READ MORE
