Ricki Lake's Comeback Talk Show Gets The AXE!

Say goodbye to The Ricki Lake Show — again. Twentieth Television announced the talk show will not receive a second season pick up for 2013-2014. Stephen Brown, executive vice-president of programming, said in a released statement:
We would like to thank Ricki Lake as well as executive producer Gail Steinberg and the entire staff for their work this season. While we are proud of the topics the program tackled including childhood obesity, life-after the military, divorce, and addiction we were simply not able to breakthrough the crowded talk show marketplace. Showrunner From 90's Rick Lake Talk Show Takes Over at New Chatfest

The Ricki Lake Show may still be brand new, but drastic changes are already being made behind the scenes. According to Deadline, executive producer Lisa Kridos is leaving the program. Kridos will reportedly go to work at distributor Twentieth Television as a programming and development producer. Gail Steinberg—showrunner for the original Ricki Lake— has taken over.
“Gail will usher in a fresh perspective bringing in an added relevancy, fun and energy to each episode, while showcasing compelling viewpoints to the female focused topics that remain at the core of the new Ricki Lake Show,” Twentieth EVP Programming and Development Stephen Brown said.

Ricki Lake enlisted the help of two very special composers in coming up with the theme song for her new daytime talk show The Ricki Lake Show, premiering Sept. 10. With a slew of new talk shows ready to launch this fall The Hollywood Reporter has published A Guide to Daytime’s New (But Familiar) Faces outlining what viewers can expect from the different offerings. So what can fans expect from Katie Couric’s Katie?
What viewers can expect: The timely and topical show will blend information, stories of the day and entertainment, including interviews with newsmakers, celebrities and everyday people with unique stories. Topics will range from parenting to pop culture, aging to activism and sex to celebrity, with segments focusing on the worlds of family, fashion, entertainment and technology.
