The Mighty O has taken to You Tube to explain why she can't save the soaps. The All My Children fan expressed empathy with the legions of AMC and One Life to Live lovers, who are already mourning the twin losses of the beloved sudsers, but shares that because of the lack of daytime viewers it doesn't make sense for OWN to take them on. Chicago's ABC Station Braces For Loss of Oprah, AMC and OLTL; Recalls How Frons Destroyed At The MoviesBy Luke Kerr on April 18, 2011
ABC’s decision to cancel All My Children and One Life to Live isn’t just impacting fans. According to the Chicago Tribune, WLS-Ch 7 has been the city’s most watched news operation since the 1980s, but with The Oprah Winfrey Show ending in May and AMC and OLTL canceled, the station is being forced to adapt to its new reality. However, it is taking the upheaval in stride.
"I'm not sure this is any bigger than some of the other challenges we've faced, certainly if you look at my tenure here," said Emily Barr, who this month marks her 14th anniversary as WLS' president and general manager. "We had to make changes early on when I first got here. The whole anchor team changed. Think about that."

The Oprah Winfrey Show is in its final days, but Oprah isn’t going out with a whimper. According to EW, President Obama will appear on the popular talk show on May 2, while First Lady Michelle Obama “is also expected to make an appearance.”
The Super Bowl. The Oscars. Oprah Winfrey's Final Show.
Acording to The Wrap, the May 25 finale of The Oprah Winfrey Show will command $1 million for each 30-second ad! The Queen of all Media is expected to attract a massive audience for the finale, far more than the 7 million who regularly watch her show. To put this in perspective for other huge pop culture farewells, the ad rate for Oprah's swan song is more than Lost commanded for its finale, but less than the finales of Friends, and the number one in this group, Seinfeld.
If you’re still struggling to come to terms with the fact Oprah is leaving daytime, here is a bit of reminder. The Oprah Winfrey Show will air its final episode on May 25. Currently in repeats, fresh episodes of the popular talk show will begin airing again on April 7.
