In the latest edition of OK!magazine, on newstands now, actor/comedian/singer Jamie Foxx reveals it was none other than Oprah Winfrey who helped him snag his Best Actor Academy Award for the 2005 Ray Charles biopic Ray.
"Oprah said, 'Before they give the Oscar out, there's a certain way you have to campaign and carry yourself," said Foxx. "Being a comedian, [I was] sort of looking at everything as like 'Oh, it's a joke,' and she said, 'No, you really need to take it seriously."
From that point Winfrey began introducing Foxx to major Academy players like Sidney Poitier which helped Foxx's breakthrough performance get the recognition it deserved, the article reveals. Never underestimate the power of the Mighty O!
