The View watchers held their collective breath as controversial former co-host Star Jones returned to the talk show today. Six years after being fired from the series, the legal eagle came back to her old stomping grounds to discuss her struggles with heart disease, however Barbara Walters used the opportunity to have Jones clear up the reason why she decided to announce her exit from the series, live on the air, after being told her contract wasn't being renewed, as opposed to making up a story like Walters and fellow executive producer Bill Geddie wanted. The Young and the Restless baddie Sean Kanan will make a guest appearance on Dr. Drew tonight to discuss the rising epidemic of teen obesity. The subject matter is near and dear to Kanan's heart, having grown up being bullied for being overweight. Dr. Drew airs at 9 pm EST on HLN.
With Katie Couric's talk show debuting this September, soap fans and TV critics alike are wondering what will be the fate of ABC's sole daytime soap left in production, General Hospital. When questioned about the sudser at the Television Critics Association's (TCA) winter press tour today, ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee said this (according to TV Line):
I’m a fan of General Hospital but we have not made a decision, and we do not have a time frame for [making that call] either.
Say it ain't so, Babs! TMZ is reporting Barbara Walters may be hanging up her mic for good next year (Editor's Note: Shoulda happened five years ago). The site claims Walters had just finished interviewing President Barack Obama when the announcement slipped out. TMZ alleges while Walters was taking a break from shooting the interview, she leaned over and said to the Prez,
I need one more interview with you because I'm retiring next year."
Fasten your seatbelts for a bumpy showdown! Bill Maher paid a visit to the ladies of The View. Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is still smarting from a joke the Real Time host made in Feb. At the time Maher cracked Hasselbeck should be sent to Egypt, in exchange for CBS correspondent Lara Logan, who also was sexually assaulted during the Egyptian revolution. Maher made the joke before CBS released a statement, informing the world about Logan's assault.
Hasselbeck let it be known she did not find his joke funny, while Maher tried to explain he wasn't trying to personally attack her. Watch the fireworks between the two after the jump! READ MORE
