Kelli Giddish and Jesse Metcalfe to Star in NBC's Chase

Now this sounds like something to check out. NBC has picked up the Jerry Bruckheimer drama Chase starring former All My Children star Kelli Giddish and Passions eye candy Jesse Metcalfe, according to Broadcasting & Cable. Chase is “a fast-paced drama amid a game of cat-and-mouse as a team of U.S. marshals hunts down America's most dangerous fugitives.”

Since leaving their respective soaps each has spent time in primetime. Metcalfe had a memorable stint on Desperate Housewives as Gaby’s (Eva Longoria) lawn boy lover, while Giddish starred in FOX’s quickly cancelled Past Life.

Tracey Bregman Weighs in on if Y&R is Becoming Passions

In an interview with TV Guide Magazine’s Michael Logan, consummate trooper Tracey Bregman weighs in on whether The Young and the Restless is becoming more and more like Passions.

Lately, there’s been a big shift in tone at Y&R. It’s becoming more and more like Passions.

I think the mysteries are tweaked a little bit more, and there is the fun, fantasy element of Sheila’s twins, Daisy and Ryder, but it’s still based somewhat in the reality of the relationships. We still have the rich, family stories and the romances. Y&R’s success has always been based on the audience’s connection to the characters. Don’t forget it was [Y&R creator] Bill Bell who had Lauren buried alive, and that was a wild, very emotional story. As long as you can keep the character relationships on point, I think the audience will go for the ride. When it gets outlandish on other shows, I find it difficult as a viewer to connect with that. But I don’t think that’s ever been Y&R’s problem.

Tonja Walker and Drake Hogestyn Join Reality Bytes

Tristan Rogers keeps landing big names for his web series Reality Bytes. Former Days of our Lives leading man Drake Hogestyn has joined the cast as Jerry Parker and now his former General Hospital co-star Tonja Walker has signed on as Avery Meadows.

VOTE: Supporting Soap Actress of the Decade

As the 00’s come to an end and we look forward to the 2010’s Daytime Confidential pauses to look back at the best of the past decade. In the coming days Daytime Confidential readers will be able to vote for their favorite soap actors and characters in a variety of categories.

Voting ends December 24 at midnight and readers' votes in all the categories will be discussed in a “Best of the Decade” podcast to air the week of January 28.

While lead actors and actresses may have all the limelight it wouldn’t be possible without the supporting actresses and actors they share their scenes with. The dynamic Lesli Kay won a Supporting Emmy in 2001 as Molly Conlan and was nominated in the same category for her The Bold and the Beautiful character Felicia Forrester. Who can forget Eden Riegel as All My Children’s Bianca Montgomery? The Young and the Restless’ Sharon Case keeps fans riveted as the lovelorn kleptomaniac Sharon Abbott.

While lead actors and actresses may have all the limelight it wouldn’t be possible without the supporting actors and actresses they share their scenes with. Would As the World Turns’ Katie (Terri Colombino) be as enjoyable without the talented Trent Dawson as Katie’s best friend Henry Coleman? Robin Strasser’s Dorian Lord is at her best when Tuc Watkins returns as David Vickers and brings out her humanity. Jacob Young’s JR Chandler battles his father– All My Children’s silver fox David Canary– Adam Chandler and together they give soap fans one of daytime’s best father/son dynamics.
