As The Ratings Rise: The Hollywood Reporter Names CBS Daytime Chief Among 'Fastest-Rising Stars'

What a difference a competent executive makes! Daytime soap opera, game and talk show fans likely noticed a familiar name among The Hollywood Reporter's recent Next Gen 2012 list. Angelica McDaniel, CBS Entertainment's senior vice-president for Daytime, was touted for her success overseeing The Price is RightLet's Make a Deal, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and most notably The Talk, which is the fastest growing show on network television.

What is McDaniel's biggest piece of advice?

To listen. People will always teach you something if you’re paying attention.

This explains why McDaniel is brave enough to sign up for Twitter. You can find the 35-year-old dynamo promoting her lineup, as well as engaging with soap actors, talk show hosts and fans @AngelicaMcD.

I've been hella impressed with the way The Price is Right, Lets Make a Deal and The Talk have been cross-promoting Y&R and B&B since McDaniel took over. CBS Daytime feels much sturdier and less trigger happy than rival networks as a result. For a complete chart highlighting CBS Daytime's recent success in the Nielsens, keep reading!

CBS Daytime Chief Angelica McDaniel: "Y&R' is a Flagship Program in Our Daytime Lineup"

What a difference a few years makes. Gone are the days when arrogant, now unemployed executives like Brian Frons and Barbara Bloom pop off in the presss about the dire state of the soaps they helped tank. Currently the genre boasts leaders who actually seem to care about keeping the remaining daytime sudsers on the air — so long as they stay modern and profitable. In an interview with Variety, Angelica McDaniel, senior vice-president for CBS Daytime, discussed the importance of The Young and the Restless to her daypart.

Said McDaniel:

" 'Y&R' is a flagship program in our daytime lineup," says McDaniel, who joined the net in 2010. "It's an iconic brand that has told compelling stories with dynamic characters for years."

Nasty Feud Between Let's Make a Deal's Wayne Brady and Bill Maher Heats Up!

The war of words between political comedian Bill Maher and Let's Make a Deal host Wayne Brady has been the talk of the blogosphere for the past few days. Apparently the squabble started when Maher took a dig at President Barack Obama's blackness—or in Maher's opinion, lack thereof—by comparing the POTUS to Brady on his HBO series Real Time With Bill Maher.

A fed up Brady went on The Talk co-host Aisha Tyler's Girl on Guy podcast and proceeded to blast off on Maher. Said Brady in response to Maher referring to Obama as "your Wayne Brady:

"Just because you f*** black hookers, just because you had that particular black experience… I have to stop myself to getting into it because I realize the thing is if I had gone on his show, or even doing it online, I'm not going to win. Because as soon as you back off, he still has his platform to say whatever he wants to." READ MORE

Angelica McDaniel Promoted to SVP at CBS Daytime

CBS is rewarding Angelica McDaniel for managing to make a modest success out of The Talk, after overcoming a few casting bumps and bruises. The network has promoted the TV exec to senior vice-president of daytime. This news is awesome sauce, considering I was hearing a certain former ABC Daytime soap slaying exec was spotted lurking and skulking about CBS late last year! READ MORE
