Former Gossip Girl guest and former One Life to Live star Tika Sumpter was among the celebrities who turned out for the 5th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon on February 25, in Beverly Hills. DAYS, All My Children, Glee, Shameless and Many More Nab GLAAD Nominations

Nominations for the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced this week and several soaps made the cut. In daytime, both Days of Our Lives and All My Children received nods for their LGBT storytelling. 

This past season DAYS began the soap's first gay storyline featuring Freddie Smith as comfortably out college student Sonny Kiriakis and Chandler Massey as his tortured, closeted pal Will Horton. The final year of All My Children saw the soap's iconic lesbian character Bianca Montgomery (Christina Bennett Lind) fall in love for what was likely the last time, with previously hetero friend Marissa Tasker (Sarah Glendening). Deadline is reporting former All My Children actress Leven Rambin has been cast in the highly-anticipated movie adaptation of The Hunger Games. Rambin will play Glimmer, District 1's fighter who goes up against Districk 12's Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence).

TV Guide is reporting former All My Children star Alexa Havins has been tapped for a role on Grey's Anatomy. Havins will play Thatcher Grey's (Meredith and Lexie's daddy) new lady love. No word on Havins' airdate.

 

Sherri Shepherd Lands One For The Money

Variety is reporting The View's Sherri Shepherd will star alongside former Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl in the crime thriller, One For The Money. Shepherd will play dual roles as kind-hearted prostitutes. The movie is based on the popular bestselling novel series by Janet Evanovich.
