Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy Dangerously Close to Jumping the Shark

I never thought I'd type this, but ABC Daytime and SOAPnet should stop getting ideas for their medical-based storylines from the once-groundbreaking primetime hit Grey's Anatomy. TV Guide is reporting that Meredith's little sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh) is going to be revealed as the ringleader of a secret society of interns who operate on each other for experience! Okay, first the lesbian casting debacle, now this?

What kind of hot, smelly mess is Shonda Rhimes pooping out at the House of Mouse? Grey's is becoming a bad sitcom and Private Practice is unwatchable this season.  How did these shows go from character-driven, sexy, poignant hours of guilty pleasure TV to, well, the last few seasons of Nip/Tuck?

Shonda you need to get it together sistah. I am beyond proud to see a woman of color as the show runner of not one, but two major network shows (Yes We Can!), but if you get outta line, I'm gonna have to read you like a trashy novel just like anyone else!

Patrick Dempsey Talks Brooke Smith Firing on Ellen

Patrick Dempsey
dropped by the Ellen show and Ellen asked him about the recent firing of Brooke Smith. Dempsey responded by pulling out an "official" statement from ABC. Check it out.

Grey's Anatomy Fires Brooke Smith

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello is reporting that Brooke Smith has been let go as Dr. Erica Hahn on Grey's Anatomy. Apparently the decision to fire Smith, whose character is currently in a lesbian relationship with Sarah Ramirez's popular character Callie, came down from network executives.

You'll want to read the entire interview and Shonda Rhimes official statement.

Will you miss Dr. Hahn?

Live+7 Benefits Struggling and Strong

The Live Feed is reporting that the DVR Live+7 used by primetime TV has helped a slew of TV shows achieve marked gains in ratings. Life, Lipstick Jungle, Heroes, 90210, Grey's Anatomy, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice, Smallville, Prison Break, Boston Legal, Terminator and Chuck all had viewership gains of 17 - 36%.

No wonder several of these smaller shows have been picked up by their networks. What I don't understand is why the ratings for daytime soaps, which require an even larger commitment to watch, aren't calculated on Live+7? Imagine the percentage of viewership increases the soaps could have if their ratings were calculated with Live+7?

Visit The Live Feed to find out how much your favorite show's ratings increased with Live+7.

McRambo Returns to Grey's Anatomy

Kevin McKidd returns to Grey's Anatomy tonight as the army doc and possible love interest of Sandra Oh's Cristina.

Did you want McKidd to stick around longer than two episodes?

Private Practice Picked Up For Full Season

Private Practice fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The Grey's Anatomy spinoff has been picked up for a full season. The pickup comes amid concern for many Wednesday night ABC fans as ratings for Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money are both down significantly from their first seasons.

According to Live Feed:

All have returned down significantly this year, but "Practice" has been the highest rated of the bunch. The most recent episode garnered 7.4 million viewers and a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49 and a 6 share. Season to date, its averaging 8.3 million viewers and a 3.2/8. Plus, ABC points out "Practice" has been growing 45% from "Daisies."

While I personally enjoy Private Practice, wouldn't you guess that the two show's of the lineup I'm rooting for most are the ones suffering ratings declines.
