Former The Young and the Restless star Tatyana Ali and Days of our Lives star Arianne Zucker were among the current and former soap stars who attended the 2011 Step Up Women’s Network Inspiration Awards on June 10. “Rumours” was another good meta-episode for Glee, acknowledging the inevitable gossip that plagues any pop-culture phenom. The show has gotten its share in various tabloids and blind items, and that's the tongue-in-cheek problem facing the Glee Club this week. Self-awareness of its own pop-culture presence is something this show has always had fun with. They also went there with the couple squish-names, my favorite being “Pizes.”
The real world overlaps were everywhere in this episode. Glee Club gossip included Quinn and Kurt (Chris Colfer) as cheaters (like those Mark Salling/Naya Rivera rumors), questions about Santana and Sam's sexuality (like those Darren Criss questions), and the insinuation that Will (Matthew Morrison) would rather be on Broadway than leading the Glee Club (like Morrison wanting a solo singing career).
You just know Then We Got Help’s group therapy session is headed off the rails when Kenny (Kevin Earley) gets it in his head that he wants to use “puffy bat squeaky toys” during their next session. As “If I Had a Hammer” heads down Then We Got Help's latest path of hilarity, the group members begin hitting each other with the toys, taking out their relationship frustrations on each other.
I’m always fascinated how characters you enjoy, but may not be a favorite one season, can grow on you the next season. Quinn (Dianna Agron) wasn’t my favorite during Glee’s first season, but this season I’ve been digging the character. The same is happening for me with Gerry (Susan Ferrara) on Then We Got Help. Her deadpan expressions, cutaway commentary, no nonsense quips and mother lion defense of her children, have punctuated the comedy for me this season.
Oh, and in the “you learn something new every day” portion of the episode, did you know using too much hand lotion can make it difficult to get your fingerprints taken? I didn't. Apparently, Dan (Nicholas Rodriguez) uses so much of the stuff, to keep his hands soft, the adoption agency had to use a special machine to register his prints. Watch this week’s Then I Got Help after the jump.
The Bold and the Beautiful’s Ashley Jones and former The Young and the Restless star Vail Bloom popped up at the QVC Red Carpet Style Party at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles on February 25. One Life to Live guest star Kourtney Kardashian and Glee’s Jessalyn Gilsig were also among the stars that turned out for the bash. Check out photos after the jump.
Out Magazine has published its 100 Most Eligible Bachelors. While You Tube sensation, singer-songwriter Jay Brannon, topped the list, two openly gay daytime actors made the cut as well. Thom Bierdz (Phillip, The Young and the Restless) and Scott Evans (ex-Fish, One Life to Live) came in at number 8 and number 10 respectively. Also making the cut is Glee star and recent Golden-Globe winner Chris Colfer who comes in at number 4. American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is once again runner-up, coming in at number 2. Check out the full list here.
