By Jamey Giddens on January 20, 2012
Nominations for the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced this week and several soaps made the cut. In daytime, both Days of Our Lives and All My Children received nods for their LGBT storytelling.
This past season DAYS began the soap's first gay storyline featuring Freddie Smith as comfortably out college student Sonny Kiriakis and Chandler Massey as his tortured, closeted pal Will Horton. The identity of Rachel Berry’s (Lea Michele) two dads has been one of those unanswered questions fans have wondered about since the first season. Well wonder no longer! According to TVLine, Glee has cast Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell as Hiram and LeRoy Berry. Reportedly, they will make their Glee debut on the February 14, Valentine’s Day episode “Heart.”
It will be interesting to see if either father mentions Finn’s (Cory Monteith) cliffhanger marriage proposal to Rachel on last night’s episode “Yes/No.”

Fox Scraps Glee Spinoff

Personally, I breathed a sigh of relief at the news. While improved over its second season, Glee still has issues to work out and a spinoff would have only proved a distraction.
In casting news, Cory Monteith revealed to The Hollywood Reporter he will be returning for Glee’s fourth season, even though his character Finn is graduating. Meanwhile, the industry Bible is reporting Grant Gustin–who plays Blaine and Kurt spoiler Sebastian–has an offer “on the table” to become a season four regular.
