Grade the 2011 Primetime Emmys!

Modern Family took home a slew of comedy awards at the 2011 Emmys, including Supporting Actor, Actress and Outstanding Comedy. This left the Lead Actor and Actress categories to Jim Parsons and Melissa McCarthy, stars of Chuck Lorre’s The Big Bang Theory and Mike & Molly.  While the comedy side of things was dominated by Modern Family, the academy spread the love around in the drama categories.

Friday Night Light’s Kyle Chandler took home Lead Actor, while The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies beat out Chandler's co-star Connie Britton in Lead Actress. Margo Martindale took home a well-deserved Supporting Actress Emmy for her fantastic role as Justified’s Mags Bennett and Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage landed a Supporting Actor Emmy for his nuanced portrayal of Tyrion Lannister. AMC's Mad Men walked away with Outstanding Drama.

Glee’s Jane Lynch carried the weight of TV’s biggest night on her shoulders, with musical numbers, hilarious spoofs and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments, but reviews for the show itself have been mixed.  Now it’s your chance to weigh in on the 2011 Emmy Awards.

Why American Horror Story Just Might Restore My Love For FX

FX used to be my network. I was addicted to practically everything it offered up, including: Nip/Tuck, The Shield, Lucky, Rescue Me, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Dirt. But in recent years I’ve found myself falling out of love with the network. I quit watching Nip/Tuck when they killed someone off with teddy bear stuffing. Philadelphia changed after Danny DeVito joined and I found myself watching it less and less and then no longer at all. Rescue Me has had a great run, but in many ways it became repetitive to me. I’m not watching its final season.  Today, Showtime and USA series have replaced my once beloved FX shows on my DVR.

Only one show remains “must watch” for me on FX, the brilliant Justified.  If not for it, I have broken up with the cable network years ago. But now there is hope our relationship can be rebuilt! FX has released a trailer for American Horror Story and to be crass, it looks f’ing awesome!

Starring Friday Night Light’s Connie Britton, The Practice’s Dylan McDermott, Six Feet Under’s Francis Conroy, True Blood’s Denis O’Hare and Academy Award winner Jessica Lange, no FX show since Nip/Tuck has given me the water cooler vibe American Horror Story did as I watched its promo. Watch it after the jump!
