Katie pulled in the best ratings of a new talk show premiere since Dr. Phil with a 2.8 household rating. The Talk went makeup free to entice viewers into watching and earned a 37 percent increase year-over-year. However, Ellen’s premiere scored a 3.0 in households, making it very clear she isn’t going to be pushed aside by newcomers or stunts. According to E!, Ellen’s demos were even better.
Even better was Ellen's dominance in the women 25-54 demo, scoring a 2.2 rating in the ever-important demo, a vast important over last season's 1.3 rating.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dr. Oz earned a 2.8 with its fourth season premiere and the format change of Anderson Cooper’s talk show helped Anderson Live gain “18 percent over a year ago.”
Ellen premiered a new soap-within-a-talk show, My Fair & Square Lady, this week. In its debut episode, Days of our Lives star Drake Hogestyn turns out to be the groom at Ellen’s mysterious wedding.
Later in the spoof series, which is part of Ellen's JC Penney campaign, The Young and the Restless’ Stephen Nichols and Jeanne Cooper show up. Nichols starts out wearing an eye patch, until Cooper arrives and reminds him he hasn’t been on that soap for years. A classic slap fest erupts and it is revealed Cooper enjoys Fifty Shades of Grey, just in time for an epic cliffhanger revelation.

Ellen DeGeneres taped a side-splitting reading of E.L James' "mommy porn" novel Fifty Shades of Grey. Complete with props, Ellen wonders if she should paraphrase the book’s racier scenes. At one point she says “I don’t think he should use a spatula for that. If you go to Anastasia’s house don’t eat the pancakes. Don’t eat the pancakes.” Watch Ellen’s spoof after the jump!

Ellen DeGeneres has been named Special Envoy for Global AIDS Awareness for the U.S. government by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Zap2it reports. Clinton had this to say about daytime’s funny lady.
"[Ellen] is going to bring not only her sharp wit and her big heart, but her impressive TV audience and more than 8 million followers on Twitter, to raise awareness and support for this effort. I know we can look forward to many contributions from Ellen and her loyal fans across the globe."
Regis Philbin may be ending his run at Live with Regis and Kelly later this year, but his expected departure isn’t hurting the morning show’s ratings. According to Broadcast & Cable, Live with Regis and Kelly’s ratings climbed 12 percent in February.
The Oprah Winfrey Show, in its 25th and final season, was flat in the ratings, but maintained its No. 1 ranking. Her protégés Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz had varying results. Dr. Phil moved up three percent and ranked at No. 2. The Dr. Oz Show was flat, but tied with Ellen, which improved 4 percent. Meanwhile, Maury rounded out the top 5, up 5 percent for the month.
