Supernatural Soaptacular: Vampire Diaries Returns and The Secret Circle Debuts Tonight on The CW!
By Jamey Giddens on September 15, 2011
Halloween may still be a month and some change away, but things will definitely be going "bump" in the night on The CW this evening. The network's hit vampire sudser The Vampire Diaries returns for a third season, while bewitching companion soap The Secret Circle makes its debut.
Both shows share more in common than being populated by impossibly sexy twentysomethings playing teenagers. They're both based on L.J. Smith novel series and are helmed by YA horror god Kevin Williamson. Circle has the added distinction of having Andrew Miller, creator of one of webisodic TV's best series Imaginary Bitches, as one of its showrunners.
When we last left Mystic Falls on TVD, Elena (Nina Dobrev) was growing dangerously close to Damon (Ian Somerhalder), while her undead paramour—and Damon's brother—Stefan (Paul Wesley) was sacrificing himself to Klaus (Joseph Morgan). Bonnie (Kat Graham) had managed to save Elena's trouble-prone bro Jeremy (Stephen R. McQueen) with a little black magic, but it left the kid seeing dead people. Tell Pac and Biggie I said, "Sup!"
Tonight's premiere of The Secret Circle finds Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson) having to move in with her Grammy after someone flame broils her mama. In her new town, Cassie meets a group of wanton wiccans and soon learns she's the sixth member of their coven — whether she likes it or not. And you thought Junior Leaguers in the South were a tough group!
That's Days of Our Lives beauty Shelley Hennig as good witch Diana. Are you guys as excited for these two magical melodramas tonight as I am? The Vampire Diaries season premiere jumps off at 8 pm EST. The Secret Circle debuts immediately following at 9 pm EST. Watch teasers after the jump!

TVLine Dreamcasts One Life and AMC Actors in Primetime Gigs!
By Jillian Bowe on July 06, 2011
With the series finales of All My Children and One Life To Live nearing, many are wondering what will happen to the talented casts of both soaps. TVLine has created a fun content piece, "dreamcasting" the thesps onto primetime shows. According to them, OLTL's Eddie Alderson should be sent over to the CW's highly-anticipated The Secret Circle.
Alderson is one of the strongest young actors on daytime TV today, so why not let him work his magic -- so to speak -- on The CW's buzzy new series (premiering Thursday, Sept. 15)? We would love to watch Alderson come to terms with his witchy ways as the little brother of one of the New Salem coven's leading ladies. There's a slight Britt Robertson resemblance there, no?
