Shemar Moore: "The Young and the Restless and Bill Bell Literally Changed My Life"

While the role of Malcolm Winters is currently occupied on The Young and the Restless, it's no secret some fans (including this one) will never stop clamoring for Shemar Moore  to return to the sudser. Even though Moore has moved on to primetime (Criminal Minds) and film (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) success, would he ever consider gracing us with that sexy smile again in Genoa City?

"Well I can't now, Darius McCrary is playing Malcolm Winters," Moore said when I posed the question to him backstage at the Daytime Emmys in Las Vegas.

According to Moore, while he will always have fond memories of the role that made him a household name, he's moved on and won't diss McCrary's take on the role.

"Nah, nah. You're not going to get me hating on my boy!" he said laughing, when I suggested McCrary could um, take a sabbatical. "I did my time, I did 8 years on The Young and the Restless, then I left and came back briefly. I did all that. I miss The Young and the Restless, and I will always cherish my time there."

CBS Reveals 2011-2012 Fall Schedule

Unlike ABC and NBC, which both have a number of slots to fill; the CBS schedule is quite stable. The Tiffany network announced its 2011-2012 schedule on May 18, introducing just five new series to its lineup. 2 Broke Girls joins the network’s Monday comedy lineup. Unforgettable will follow NCIS: Los Angeles on Tuesday.

No freshman series will air on Wednesday, but CBS has moved CSI from its Thursday timeslot to Wednesday, where it will follow Criminal Minds. This provides an opening for the network to shake things up on Thursday. Now, How to be a Gentleman and Person of Interest will join the war against Fox's Bones, The X Factor and American Idol and ABC’s Charlie’s Angels and Grey’s Anatomy.

Friday nights will kick off with newcomer A Gifted Man, while Rules of Engagement moves to Saturday. Those wondering what happened to The Good Wife on Tuesday will be happy to learn the critically acclaimed drama has been moved to Sunday nights, where it will air opposite of Desperate Housewives. Shemar Moore and Thomas Gibson's Status Uncertain at Criminal Minds Next Season?

Will Shemar Moore and Thomas Gibson be returning to Criminal Minds next season? In a story revealing the latest details about the progress of Paget Brewster’s contract negations with Criminal Minds, TV Line’s Nellie Andreeva dropped this little gem.

Incidentally, Brewster isn’t the only Minds cast member whose return to the show next season is uncertain. Deals for Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore are up at the end of this season and the two are nowhere near new pacts.

If things don’t work out between Moore and Criminal Minds, you know I’ll be crossing my fingers and toes hoping he pops back up on The Young and Restless.
