Roger Newcomb of We Love Soaps caught up with The Young and the Restless showrunner Maria Arena Bell at the recent Creative Arts Daytime Emmy Awards. Newcomb got Bell to weigh in on her thoughts on daytime soaps continuing their five-day-a-week, year-long schedule; what it's like to run a daily serial ("It's like being a kid in a candy store!"), Francophrenia and of course, we couldn't go a day without hearing about...Daisy (Yvonne Zima)! NATAS Chairman Vows 40th Annual Daytime Emmys Will Be Televised; Talks Hybrid Sports, News, Daytime Kudocast




NATAS Chairman Malachy Wienges is willing to stake his reputation on the Daytime Emmys being telecast in 2013. In an interview with Variety, Wienges revealed he already has several networks and production companies interested in the show, including HLN owner Turner. On the odds of getting the show on the air again, Wienges said:

“I guarantee my reputation on it,” he said. “I didn’t spend 31 years at CBS to give it all up.

The Bold and the Beautiful cutie Adrienne Frantz wasn't about to let a little thing like a car accident—that left her with a concussion—keep her from attending the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The soap star revealed to CBS Soaps In Depth how a car hit her vehicle going 60 miles per hour! Said Frantz:

"I was stuck in traffic. I was stopped completely and a car hit me going 60 miles per hour. Both of our cars were totaled," she told Soaps In Depth on the red carpet. "I'm lucky to be alive."
