A lot of people who lost their jobs following the past television season took home Daytime Emmy Awards tonight. Former General Hospital showrunner Jill Farren Phelps won for Outstanding Show; while Darrell Ray Thomas Jr. and Marlene McPherson, both of whom were fired as Days of Our Lives' head writers after just one season, took home the win for Outstanding Writing. General Hospital won its 11th Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Jill Farren Phelps was surrounded by the GH cast, as she accepted the award for ABC’s last remaining soap opera. Congratulations General Hospital!
