I found this beautiful written letter by a fan named "Margery" online dating back to a published post 04/27/99 about Felicia Minei Behr as EP of ATWT for a two and half year period of disastrous lead-ship, going through many head-writers for a short period until her last few months and Lorraine Broadrick stabilized stories and refocus on more vets front and center.
If we would take this letter and insert this about Y&R of today everything "Margery" states about ATWT at the time is happening today on Y&R. This shows how networks, the soap executives in charge, the company owners haven't listened to fans. This letter is almost thirteen years old. This is why soaps are failing today because recycled EPs, HWs, Executives have neglected to change with the times and kept producing the same rehash and fans have left. Note Margery uses Y&R as the gold standard and is dead on at this period time for one simple reason ....his name is William Bell. This could be framed from the man himself and thoughts and pleading with his daughter-in-law. Please enjoy.
Ms. Felicia Minei-Behr (Maria Arena Bell)
Executive Producer, ATWT (Y&R)
Dear Ms. Minei-Barr, (Ms. Bell)
Mr. Jonathan Reiner said that you read your mail. Although letters to you do not seem to affect anything I am making one final attempt. READ MORE
Well, it appears that Rafe's days on Days of our Lives are numbered. Rumors are hot and furious that Galen Gering either asked to be let go from the show or the show decided to let Galen go and therefore kill the character of Rafe off as he apparently dives in front of a bullet meant for John.
BTW, the speculation that Rafe will bite the dust began to pick up speed on twitter yesterday (November 7th) afternoon.
You can download the podcast in Itunes under The Michael Eric Dyson Show date 10/31. She discusses magazine covers, why it took 30 years to get a black writer, why their is not a black producer, and hell where the heck is she?
I didn't know that Dyson was a fan of the show. It is an interesting interview as always.
So, I can't help but hope it will turn out that Daniel isn't really Maggie's son. I just don't see how it serves any real purpose storyline wise, as it will not change the relationships between anybody in a significant way. Given how very quickly this all was revealed, and considering Victor's mysterious business, I find myself wondering if this isn't in fact the red herring I hope it to be. Perhaps Victor knows the identity of Maggie's real child, but has manipulated things so it will appear Daniel is the child instead? I don't really see why they need to create this new child, given Maggie's existing, off-screen, blank-slate, daughter, but if they must create a new child for Maggie, I just hate to see it be Daniel, because the story in that doesn't seem worthwhile.
Thinking like Agnes Nixon it would be great if DOOL were to incorporate all the Occupy movements across the country with an Occupy Salem movement that would intensify the scrutiny on John Black. Imagine Citizens of Salem whom were duped and lost their money and whose homes are facing foreclosure coming out to protest. Then when they decide to camp out Mayor Carver is forced into a sticky political position where if he doesn't support them then he can will be seen as supporting John and all the corrupt corporations. But since they already have Abe on video saying that he believes John is innocent he has more troubles as he mounts a re-election campaign.
Meanwhile, EJ comes out to show support for the protestors even bringing them food and promising to provide them pro-Bono legal representation if the mayor and his goons aka The Salem PD try to put a stop to their constitutional freedom to protest. This gives EJ a chance to seek sympathy on his family suggesting that the Dimera's have been treated just as bad by local government over the years.
EJ can lay out a story of an overzealous Salem PD where Bo Brady has had it out for his family for decades and has been willing to break the law to try and bring them down (true). He can go on to say that since Bo and Roman are brothers and Bo is married to Hope who is also on the force and close friends with john and the Mayor that the citizens can't expect to get fair break under the Carver administration. So he ever so politically demagogues, suggesting that Abe is guilty by association. READ MORE
