I'm smiling at Days...
Submitted by david46208 on December 31, 2011 - 12:13pmOkay this week in Salem was a mix of the good with the bad.
THE GOOD
What I loved this week was the continuing downward spiral of Will. Chandler Massey as an actor, scenes with everyone have been excellent. He is proving that with the right casting Days can actually pull off a great storyline minus the vapid models who try to act. I don't think I remember a young actor this good since Jay Kenneth Johnson first came on to the show. So there is a lot to work with here and much to explore in the storyline as it builds in the new year.
Now Sami taking Kate's bait and Madison and Brady going in on her was also excellent. I have this feeling that Madison could end up being another Kristien and/or Lexie where she is driven to do evil things. And Sarah Brown can pull it off. Even the romance with Brady is good. Who would have known (after having watched him on Passions) that Eric Martsolf could actually act? But he has developed into something more than abs.
Joe Mascolo reminds us why Stefano Dimera is the #1 villain in daytime history. The way he was able to manipulate both EJ (whose a lightweight and doesn't know it) and John was a testament to the characters power and the actors ability to mix in a bit of humor while being serious at the same time. Former Days vet Kaye Stevens has died
Submitted by marknsprmo on December 31, 2011 - 9:45amKaye Stevens who played Jeri Clayton in the 1970s died in Florida after suffering from cancer. She passed away on Dec. 28. She was a singer in life and sang alot with the brat pack. Ms Stevens also toured in Vietnam singing to soldiers. She played the role of an old friend of Doug Williams whose daughter Trish ( Patti Weaver) was involved with both Mike Horton and David Banning.Trish gave birth to David's son Scotty. While not a major role, the character was very interesting and had strong story lines of alcoholism, spousal abuse and attempted suicide. She also sang at Doug's Place.
Fire Christel KhalilChristel Khalil Hensley and recast Lily with Tanisha Lynn
Submitted by david46208 on December 28, 2011 - 10:49pmNow she as an actress has always embodied what it takes to make Lily actually work. And she doesn't need to be trained how to act. But then these are the musing of someone who would soon as fire the whole top brass and start anew. Yet Lynn has that spunk needed for the role. And Lily needs some spunk... Under my regime at Y&R she (CK) would be the first to go.
GL/ATWT: Former GL and ATWT star Tom Pelphrey to guest star on the popular CBS police drama, "Blue Bloods"!
Submitted by matealestlmo on December 24, 2011 - 9:16am(From http://www.cbs.soapsindepth.com)
Heads up Tom Pelphrey fans! If you've been longing to see the actor who once broke your heart as GUIDING LIGHT's Jonathan and AS THE WORLD TURNS' Mick back in action, now's your chance. CBS' hit police drama BLUE BLOODS is about to get a whole lot soapier next month!
In an upcoming episode titled "The Uniform," Pelphrey guest stars as Mike, the nephew of a diner owner who is being suspected of a crime. While show reps wanted to keep the rest of the details under wraps, they do reveal that the episode is "centered around" Pelphrey's character. Also featured is ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Matt Walton (ex-Elijah), who plays the publicity manager for the mayor's electoral campaign and takes a meeting with the police commissioner, played by series star Tom Selleck.
Tune in to CBS on Friday, January 13, at 10 p.m. EST.
