Help Make Groundbreaking Film Soap Life, A Documentary a Reality!
By Jamey Giddens on February 07, 2012
A few months ago I had the privilege of being interviewed as part of an upcoming documentary on all of the genre-changing events that have impacted the daytime soap opera in recent years. Soap Life — A Documentary, from filmmaker Matthew D'Amato, is an in depth look at how the recent cancellations of Guiding Light, As The World Turns, All My Children and One Life to Live have effected not only soap fans, but the actors, producers, journalists, bloggers, etc. who work in and around the industry. Ratings, Rants and Raves: Has The Bold and the Beautiful Found Its Generation Next Super Triangle?
By Jamey Giddens on February 07, 2012

It's the saga of the gorgeous, heir apparent to a SoCal dynasty, caught between two women. One is blonde, one brunette. One noble and virtuous, the other brazen and not above using her scorching sexuality to get what she wants. One of the women shares a scandalously-inappropriate connection to the scion-in-question's father, driving that man's wife to fits of jealousy. While I could easily be describing the triangle of Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Ridge (Ron Moss) and Taylor (Hunter Tylo), which has dominated storylines on CBS Daytime's The Bold and the Beautiful for much of the soap's almost 25 years on the air, I'm actually talking about another entanglement — one involving their children!
The week of Jan. 23-27, B&B reached three-year highs among total viewers and among women 18-49 and a two-year high in households, as the medical machinations of publishing czar Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) (He bribed a doc to falsify brain scans to make it look like his son's wife would stroke out if he left her!) were revealed by his icy wife Katie (Heather Tom). This move once again altered the dynamics of the fresh-faced Hope/Liam/Steffy (Kimberly Matula, Scott Clifton and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) love triangle on the frothy, hit international sudser. This begs the question, as it prepares to turn 25, has B&B finally found their Generation Next?
The Spencer Family Grows on B&B
By Luke Kerr on February 07, 2012It looks like The Bold and the Beautiful’s Spencer family is getting a bit bigger on-screen. According to TV Guide, Joanna Johnson’s Karen Spencer is returning to B&B and bringing a daughter Caroline (Linsey Godfrey) with her.
The kid is named Caroline, after Karen's late sister (also played by Johnson), and she's a twentysomething design student who is hoping to land a job at Forrester Creations. Karen brings her to L.A. for the interview.
However, there’s a twist about the latest addition to the Spencer clan.
The rep further reveals that Caroline — who uses the last name of Spencer — is not related by blood to anyone on B&B which makes her available to all the show's young men.
Reportedly, The Bold and the Beautiful’s characters will already know Caroline when she first appears on March 27. No word on how long Karen will stick around after Caroline has been introduced. Get the full casting scoop at TV Guide.
Sheryl Underwood: "I Love Everybody on Every Soap"
By Luke Kerr on February 06, 2012
The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood will appear as a guest on The Young and the Restless on February 10. TV Guide’s Michael Logan caught up with the talk show host and asked about her love for soaps and her upcoming Y&R debut.
TV Guide Magazine: How far back do you go with Y&R?
Underwood: Waaay back, baby. Back to when David Hasselhoff was Snapper and Mrs. Chancellor was the baddest bitch on TV. She was doing fight scenes long before Alexis and Crystal on Dynasty. Oooh! Remember when John fell in love with Mamie, his black housekeeper, but it was too scandalous so she was given a million dollars and sent away on an ocean cruise? Remember when Drucilla was doped up on cough medicine and Malcolm had sex with her? Love! This! Show! I love The Bold and the Beautiful. I love John McCook. I love Susan Flannery. I love everybody on every soap. I love SoapNet. I'm a fanatic!

RUMOR REPORT: Has Jack Wagner Been Taken OFF CONTRACT at The Bold and the Beautiful?!
By Jamey Giddens on February 02, 2012

Mark this one under rumors we sincerely hope prove untrue! Sources have tipped off Daytime Confidential that popular soap hunk Jack Wagner has been taken off contract at CBS Daytime's The Bold and the Beautiful. Wagner has played the role of Ridge Forrester's (Ron Moss) hunky, sailor half brother Nick Marone since 2003.
"Jack learned late last week his contract was being terminated," says the source. "He had signed a multi-year extension less than 6 months ago, but apparently they [B&B] have the power to void it during certain intervals." READ MORE
