Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives alum Mark Hapka has snared the leading role in the upcoming Fox Digital Studios science fiction series, Parallels. Per Deadline, Hapka, best known for the role of Nathan Horton on DAYS, will play street savy underground MMA fighter Ronan Carver. Days of Our Lives fans sitting shiva over news Alison Sweeney is exiting the soap, can cheer up some. NBC announced on Wednesday the almost 49-year-old serial has been renewed through 2016. In a released statement NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said:
Days of Our Lives continues to be a fan favorite for the daytime audience and we are thrilled to keep it going through its 50th season. Days has shown year-to-year increases in key female demographics and remains both relevant and fresh creatively due to the hard work of the producers, writers, cast and crew who have worked tirelessly to make Days the ratings success it is today.
The stars of Prospect Park's "shelved" All My Children and One Life to Live aren't letting the state of their former shows prevent them from submitting themselves for Daytime Emmy nominations. TV Guide Magazine caught up with NATAS senior executive director David Michaels who revealed they received a record numbers of entries before the January 17 deadline.
Michaels also notes that "several stars who chose not to submit themselves in recent years have decided to get back into the game — so the more the merrier! Between that, and the enthusiasm from AMC and OLTL, this has the makings of a real horse race.
Alison Sweeney (Sami) may have given the broadcast scoop on her 2015 Days of Our Lives exit to Ellen, but in print the soap superstar and reality TV host is talking exclusively to Soap Opera Digest. The pending departure of the 21-year veteran of fictional Salem U.S.A. is the cover story for the magazine, which hits stands this Friday. Here's a snippet:
"My passion for working at DAYS has kept me there, obviously, for 21 years," she tells the magazine. "I love Sami and I love Salem and I love the people I work with, so it was a really, really hard decision to walk away."
Take me, Soap Jesus. Take me NOW! Alison Sweeney announced on Ellen she is leaving the role of Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives after 21 years. This is January, so this isn't an April Fool's Day joke, y'all. Samantha Gene is on her way out of Salem, U.S.A. after this season. Watch the clip after the jump! READ MORE
