In the Salem criminal justice system the people are represented by two separate, but equally ineffective groups. The police, who are five steps behind, investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders, but seldom put anyone away for long, if at all. I have to wonder if the incoming special prosecutor will be more successful than her predecessors?
According to Soap Opera Digest, Days of Our Lives is casting the recurring role of special prosecutor Melinda Trask. The character is described “as tough, intelligent and confident. DAYS is seeking an experienced African American or Asian actress in the 35 to 50 year old range.”

Genie Francis returned to her old 3 pm EST timeslot this week for a visit with Katie Couric. The soap opera icon dished her return to General Hospital and dropped a few teasers about the secret Laura Spencer brought back to Port Charles with her.
Francis also revealed Rachel Ames will be reprising the role of Audrey Hardy, R.N. for the soap's 50th Anniversary. Watch the clip below!
One Live to Live alum Tika Sumpter isn't letting any grass grow under her feet. Sumpter has landed a role in one of OWN and Tyler Perry's scripted series. Oprah Winfrey made the announcement herself on Twitter stating:

Will Dixie (Cady McClain) be living the single life in Pine Valley when All My Children returns? Soap Opera Digest caught up Michael E. Knight (Tad) who said this about his status with the continuation:
With me, personally, it was simply an issue of timing, period. I consider [Executive Producer] Ginger Smith to be, actually, one of my oldest and dearest friends, in that industry and in life. And I had asked her for patience with me because as I like to put it, I didn't say no, I just said, 'I can't do it right now.' I love the fact that the interest is there and I firmly believe Tad is going to be walking through Pine Valley in short order at some point.
