By Jamey Giddens on February 07, 2012
A few months ago I had the privilege of being interviewed as part of an upcoming documentary on all of the genre-changing events that have impacted the daytime soap opera in recent years. Soap Life — A Documentary, from filmmaker Matthew D'Amato, is an in depth look at how the recent cancellations of Guiding Light, As The World Turns, All My Children and One Life to Live have effected not only soap fans, but the actors, producers, journalists, bloggers, etc. who work in and around the industry. Check out the trailer below!

Ratings, Rants and Raves: Has The Bold and the Beautiful Found Its Generation Next Super Triangle?
By Jamey Giddens on February 07, 2012

It's the saga of the gorgeous, heir apparent to a SoCal dynasty, caught between two women. One is blonde, one brunette. One noble and virtuous, the other brazen and not above using her scorching sexuality to get what she wants. One of the women shares a scandalously-inappropriate connection to the scion-in-question's father, driving that man's wife to fits of jealousy. While I could easily be describing the triangle of Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Ridge (Ron Moss) and Taylor (Hunter Tylo), which has dominated storylines on CBS Daytime's The Bold and the Beautiful for much of the soap's almost 25 years on the air, I'm actually talking about another entanglement — one involving their children!
The week of Jan. 23-27, B&B reached three-year highs among total viewers and among women 18-49 and a two-year high in households, as the medical machinations of publishing czar Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) (He bribed a doc to falsify brain scans to make it look like his son's wife would stroke out if he left her!) were revealed by his icy wife Katie (Heather Tom). This move once again altered the dynamics of the fresh-faced Hope/Liam/Steffy (Kimberly Matula, Scott Clifton and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) love triangle on the frothy, hit international sudser. This begs the question, as it prepares to turn 25, has B&B finally found their Generation Next?
Pretty Little Liars: Top 5 Moments from "A Kiss Before Lying"
By Jenna Dorsi on February 01, 2012
1. Is Maya the girl for Emily? Maya and Emily (Shay Mitchell) are hot and heavy on this week’s Pretty Little Liars. Luckily A is ignoring them for now, but their relationship hits a snag when Emily’s mother comes to visit. Things have been really good between mother and daughter since Mrs. Fields accepted her daughter’s sexuality, but Maya still isn’t over her role in getting her sent to wilderness juvie. When they all go out to dinner Maya sabotages the whole night, by behaving inappropriately and acting nasty. Emily is not pleased. Later Maya apologizes to Emily and makes one of those grand romantic gestures TV characters are prone to—Maya recreates what it’s like to be underwater, in her bedroom. This succeeds in melting the banished swimmer’s heart. She and Emily exchange “I love yous,” then hit the sheets. READ MORE

By Jamey Giddens on February 01, 2012

ABC doesn't generally waste anytime before yanking primetime ratings disasters, like recently-gutted sitcom Work It, off the air. I wonder how long the Mouse House will be too proud to admit they made a huge mistake in cancelling One Life to Live for The Revolution? According to TV Media Insights, The Revolution is only averaging a 1.3/4 share so far this week. READ MORE
