First time I'd seen that photo....entirely inappropriate for the Emmy's. Do you think she realized that once she saw how almost everyone else was dressed?
Oh come on! It's not the classiest of dresses but it is 2008 and everything private is hidden well. The magic of illusion fabric is at work here. And every awards show has at least one or two peek-a-boo gown. She's got the body to flaunt it, why not. Hell, if I were a female with that body, I would be naked at the grocery store.
My gosh - I think Raya looks beautiful. Just because she isn't a 5ft 2in waif doesn't make her a tranny. She's a very exotic female. I wish there were more diverse types of women on daytime, but it's obvious why there won't be cause they'll be publicly humilated and scorned by the viewers. I must be the only one alive in the world who likes Victor and Sabrina - but it's cool!

And I love how the blogger threw in the whole "But the children!" argument, LOL! C'mon, it's not going to traumatize children for life, for goodness sakes! They see people wearing a lot less at the beach...

No doubt that she has an amazing body. I'm sure her body looks amazing buck naked, too, but that does not mean she should go naked to the Emmy's. It was just way too risque for the event. If it was the MTV Awards and she was Marilyn Manson's date--maybe. But that was not where she was. A woman should not wear a thong with sheer netting over it to the Daytime Emmys for the same reason nobody should wear hotpants and no top to them. It's tacky, inappropriate, and just screams of a ploy for free publicity. She needs to be careful she does not become soap's version of Bai Ling, though.

It's also just a tired way to try and shock people on the red carpet--it's not like black sheer clothes with nothing but undies underneath has not been done to death before, from Barbra Streisand to Cher. Rose McGowan even did the open-weave chain maille look with nothing underneath.
This actress is a knockout; there was simply no need to go for shock value when she could have looked gorgeous in something else.
