Apparently this former Days of Our Lives superstar saved his pennies for a rainy pilot season. According to The Suds Report, the actor-in-question turned down a role on daytime's hottest soap, The Young and the Restless, because he wasn't trying to feel the paper they were offering up. Who do you think the mystery man was?

Well, I'm going out on a limb and saying Drake. The picture posted reminds me of when Drake first appeared as the bandaged-up "John Black/Roman Brady" (Although the bandaged-up person was initially played by a different actor prior to Drake, wasn't he?).

A damn fool! That's who it is!

The picture is not of the actor. It's not a clue. It was just what I could find when I googled mystery man! LOL

Drake, because I don't think he needs a job badly enough to take a pay cut.

I think Stephen or Matthew. I don't think CBS would go after Drake or Thao. Even though they should.

Ashford fits more of the Y&R mold. The other three actors don't have that look. Also, two of four aren't exactly the best actors -- Y&R does not have to stoop.

I think it was Stephen. Shefer loved writing for him on DOOL. Shefer also wrote off Drake and Matt. Plus Matt does theatre now, so I don't think he would pass up the Y&R paycheck

I picked Stephen because he seems more likely than anyone to be interested in a pilot. I don't know why I think that, but it is just my knee-jerk reaction.

I went with Drake, because I think Nelson's blind item said that he would have brought his fans with him. Out of the 4 names Drake is the only one I could really see bringing fans with him.

This reeks of Drake Hogestyn. And it is too bad he declined because he would have been a great Matt Miller, Victor's younger brother. Plus, playing Matt would have had him acting opposite Eileen Davidson once again. Clearly his loss.

The bandaged actor who played the pawn 1985-86 was Robert Poynton.

I picked Stephen, because I think Thaao's probably still soured on soaps from Tony's stupid death, & that Drake and Matthew would probably like to get back in the saddle. I could see Stephen saying to hell with it, I'm taking a long vacation. (Although I'd love it if it turned out if Awful Aussie Ethan was Stefan and Holly's long-lost son, and he came back to GH somehow.)

I don't know these guys but from the images I googled, Matthew Ashford looks good. I could vision him as Adam's secret older brother. Are the Y&R writers reading this comment? Anyone?? I could see two conniving brothers sparring over "Red!"

I voted Thaao, simply because I could see him being choosy when it comes to jobs. Because who doesn't want an Emmy nominee? But that comment on The Suds Report makes me think it was Drake. Although I hear he's not very good at managing his money. The fans cried out for Stephen and Mary Beth to come back to Days, but I don't know if they would "turn out in droves" to watch him on Y&R. So I'm fairly stumped.

Oh my goodness, all of these guys could be a benefit to Y&R! I'd be happy to see any of them and they certainly have large fanbases, what a plus for CBS.
