We're hearing rumblings that Jerry Ver Dorn has been taken off contract at One Life to Live. We can't say this surprises us. We've been hearing for months that a Bo and Nora redux is a "done deal"—thank you Soap Gods— and Viki already has Charlie. It's too bad OLTL decided to bust up Clint and Dorian, since Robin Strasser and Ver Dorn had amazing chemistry. I would much rather watch a full-on Clint/Dorian/Cruz Castillo, er Ray Montez love triangle than see Ver Dorn and Hillary B. Smith put me to sleep in their scenes. But to be completely honest, what I really want to see is Ver Dorn reprise his role as Ross Marler on Guiding Light. Now I don't know how smart it would actually be to give up a recurring gig at a soap that is on steadier footing to return to the role you made famous, but a boy can Wishfully Cast, can't he?
If, and I say if, what TV Week is reporting is true, and GL's writers may soon be needing to wrap up storylines, I would like nothing better than for it to be revealed that Edmund or Alan was holding Ross hostage in some foreign prison. Dinah (Gina Tognoni) and Phillip (Grant Aleksander) team up to rescue him, with Beth (Beth Chamberlin) and Shayne (Jeff Branson) along for the ride, with tons of romance and adventure along the way. They don't tell Blake (Liz Kiefer) what they're doing, because they don't want to get her hopes up.
Imagine, the ferocity of emotion the brazilliant Tognoni would display as Dinah discovers a beaten and broken Ross is indeed still alive. Just think of the scenes where they spirit him back to Springfield on the Spaulding Jet, where he then reunites with his beloved Blake and their kids.
GL could then bring back Fletcher (Jay Hammer), Ed (Peter Simon) and Holly (Maureen Garrett) to celebrate in Ross's return and a double wedding for Bill and Lizzie and Phillip and Beth. Okay, enough fan fic. What do you think, should Ver Dorn be happy to stick it out on recurring on a surer bet like OLTL, or return to help salvage and/or wrap up Guiding Light?

Isn't that why he left GL in the first place? Because he was slapped a recurring status. Who knows, my mom still can't believe Ross is off GL and it's been a while! OLTL doesn't need him.

I hope he goes back. Even if he stays loyal to OLTL, I doubt he's going to make more than a few token appearances. They don't care about Clint, they don't care about most of the vets. If Viki makes a few appearances a month, why would Clint be any different.
I know it's looking bad for GL, but I still want him to go back. I miss Ross so much.

OLTL hasn't disappointed me much lately, but this news sure has. I think Jerry ver Dorn is doing a great job as Clint. I think he could be a good foil in a Viki/Charlie/Clint triangle, but of course, Brian Fronumbnuts isn't interested in anyone over 30. I hope this turns out not to be true, because if it is, can Erika Slezak be far behind?

I knew this would happen sooner or later, he goes to the show and they use the hell out of him, then it dies down and he's back on recurring or let go altogether.
But he did make the smart move, that was like 3 or 4 years ago that he left so he got his money while he would have paid much much less had he stayed at GL.
It would be great to see JVD back as Ross. But they probably wouldn't use him more than OLTL is, and he wouldn't have to deal with the extreme weather while shooting at OLTL lol.

While I was watching "Clint" on OLTL the other day, I thought he was sounding just like Ross!! Reuniting him with Phillip and Blake would be fantastic!

WOW! This is hard. I just love Jerry ver Dorn and was happy when he landed on One Life. While I wasn't completely sold on his characterization of Clint Buchanan, I was glad that they let Clint "live" after Clint Richie left.
That being said, I really miss him as Ross Marler. After Maureen Bauer was stupidly killed off in the mid-90s, he, to some extent, became the moral center of Guiding Light. Kind of ironic since he came on so bastardly. Ross is the quintessential "supporting character."
And Jamey, the fanfic idea of his amazing return would be great! Again, I offer my help in writing this storyline.

oh how i miss ross marler! he and blake were my favorite couple back when i watched GL (and yea, i'm talking sherry stringfield's blake - she was just the type of character that OLTL wishes stacy could be).
i have mixed feelings here though. i'd love to see JVD stay employed on OLTL. as a new-ish OLTL viewer, i like him as clint (sorry seasoned viewers, i didn't watch OLTL when clint ritchie played him). i think the character is obviously getting the shaft right now, though. wouldn't a clint/nora/bo triangle be more compelling than a quick bo/nora reunion?

I think he should stay w/ OLTL which is more of a sure thing than GL right now. I'd love to see him paired up w/ Ilene Kristen's Roxy. Maybe Clint goes on a bender over losing Nora to Bo and Roxy and Clint wake up in bed together. Imagine explaining that to Viki!

Tis proves a point I have been trying to make to my friends about oltl and the character of ASA..They used him in the end for only big cartoon plot points...something big and loud...now clint is the new asa and he is recurring and only gonna be used for the big cartoon things....I hate this the character can be used to show the buisness side of the soap...BE is still a big part of the show..bring back his son and let him try to take over from dad and them have it out(his or one of his addopted sons)...I just thinks it is a waist..we finally see him as a new clint and they want to ax him...get rid of the last three useless hireees.....
