It's official. Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) and Melanie (Molly Burnett) are husband and wife, but how long it can their happiness last? During the ceremony we already saw foreshadowing of what's to come.

Don't know much about them. I vaguely have watched a few episodes (Don't really watch any soap much these days). In general, it usually takes 3 to 6 months for cheating. Stephanie will keep Melonie from Nathan. Phillip probably won't do Chloe without some story. Story doesn't hold soaps back from writing though.

I have to give credit to the writers, Molly Burnette, Suzanne Rogers, Jay Kenneth Johnson, and Mark Hapka for helping make Melanie Layton relevant in Salem. When she first appeared, I am not sure the writers new how to write her, which meant Molly didn't know what direction to go with the character. I despised every scene she was in and demanded her firing! Thankfully, the show started putting Melanie in scenes with Maggie, forming a beautiful relationship between the two characters. Melanie's relationships with Phillip and Nathan have also been very 'soapy' and well acted. I never would have thought I would be caring about the well being of Melanie, but I have to say, I wanted to rip the 'poisoned comb' out of her hair as soon as Vivian put it there. I am loving Days! :)

I'm just not sure where Melanie's sudden love for Nathan comes from, other than the fact that he is a Horton and Melanie would love to be like Maggie; but she's been consistantly written to favor Philip above all other suitors. So what's the deal there? Carly's right about one thing: Melanie's too damn young to even think about marriage...
