Does The Young and the Restless' Adam (Michael Muhney) really love Sharon (Sharon Case)? This was the question SOAPnet asked Muhney in a recent interview.
Does Adam really love Sharon?
"Unequivocally, he loves Sharon 100%. You can argue as much logic as you want about what Adam has done and what he is doing. But any of us who've ever been in love know that pragmatism and love are two completely separate entities. You can't make sense of why he's done some things or continues to hide others. You can't argue: 'Well, if he loves her so much, why doesn't he let her know Faith is alive? Why doesn't he put Faith back in her arms?' It just becomes so complicated and convoluted as time goes on.

Not in the least but surprised by this poll so far. LOL Adam needs to pay for his LONG list of crimes. One character that deserves pay back in a big way. I'm sick of him getting away with all he does.

I think he loves her, it's not a healthy love, not a true love, not selfless love, but he loves her in his own twisted way. Of course that he loves himself a while lot more than he has ever loved anybody, let alone Sharon. God, I hope Sharon shots.

MM is his own best agent. I mean really. How can you say "Unequivocally, he loves Sharon 100%", and then follow it up with, "pragmatism and love are two separate entities".... Really??? I think he is playing fast and loose with the types of love. As babyc mentioned, selfless love would put her needs for her lost child above his own need for freedom. Right now, Adam is so full of himself that he thinks he can distract her from the fact that she lost her child. That's not love...it might be guilt, but either way it is truly sick.

If this is love, i don't want love. Adam he's a sociopath of course he thinks he's capable of love, we know he isn't. And MM tries way way too hard to sell this crap storyline. Adam has to die very paufully, i don't care about many people he saves from burning building, i don't care about the actors interview, Adam better be off my screen soon.

I chose the middle one. I thought Adam loved lawyer girl but then he slept with Rafe. If you went just off their reactions to each other you would believe him but you never really know whats going on in his head. Im not sure if thats the writer's fault or the actor's but either way he is a character who you never really can read fully.

If Michael Muhney has to tell the audience that his character Adam loves Sharon then something isn't right with the story. We should be able to tell this from the story and from where I see it i don't think he loves her. Like you all said before if this is what Adam calls love then I don't want any part of it!

I voted YES!
but then again I thought he loved Heather Stevens too!!!
Adam doesn't know love since he is always schemeing. He's with Sharon in part because he feels sort of guilty about the baby switch.
put Adam with JoJo and now we're talking!!

I voted the middle one. I would have voted No except for the part about him only doing it to get back at Nick, since I don't think that's the case. I see the ability to stick it to Nick (and also to Jack) as a fringe benefit, icing on the cake, and not his prime motivator. Adam feels guilty about what he did with the baby swap. When he first swapped the baby, Adam kept denying what he did to rationalize his actions, which were motivated by guilt over causing Ashley to lose her own baby. But then, the need to cover his ass brought him into Sharon's orbit, and then he couldn't rationalize what he did by denying it anymore.
That said, I think in Adam's mind, he really thinks he's in love with Sharon. The only way someone like Adam can keep doing what he does is to rationalize it and see it from his own viewpoint. So he honestly believes that love has blossomed from his interactions with Sharon, and that makes it very real to him. It doesn't work that way for the rest of the world, though, which is why so many people are clamoring for Adam's downfall to finally come.
