Campy Young and Restless Flashback: Nina vs. Cricket, Jill vs. Kay

It's old home summer on The Young and the Restless, thanks the renewal of the classic Kay (Jeanne Cooper) vs. Jill (then the cheesetastic Brenda Dickson, now mercifully Jess Walton) feud, the returns of Nina (Tricia Cast) and Phillip (Thom Bierdz) to the canvas and the possibility of Cricket Blair (Lauralee Bell) making an appearance at some point. In honor of the occasion I decided to dig up this old school clip from the beginning stages of the Nina/Phillip/Cricket triangle. Nina and Cricket were the ultimate frenemies—the beautiful Jabot teen model who had the local rock star Danny Romalotti (Michael Damien) and the Chancellor heir fighting for her hand versus the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Nina and Cricket's junior rivalry never quite reached the peaks of campy histrionics that Kay vs Jill did, but it was still good soap. I can't wait to see how Kay, Jill, Nina and Cricket react to the fact that Phillip didn't die all those years ago! Mvid courtesy of ItsMandyKimper. READ MORE

Could Lauralee Bell Reunite With Thom Bierdz on The Young and the Restless?

In an interview, with Michael Fairman, Lauralee Bell talks about Maria Arena Bell's decision to bring Thom Bierdz back to The Young and the Restless and teases the possibility of her reuniting with former co-star onscreen.

MICHAEL: Are you happy the show brought him back, with a potential for him to be part of a gay storyline?

LAURALEE: I am so glad Maria Arena Bell (co-executive producer and head writer, “Y&R”) is bringing him back, and hopefully, it should be a storyline where everyone learns from it. I wish Thom could get married to a man on the show. It would be so great. We need that.

MICHAEL: Are you considering returning to “Y&R”? Now, seems like the perfect time!

LAURALEE: Of course it’s possible, when you bring back Thom Bierdz and Tricia Cast (Nina)…

Would you like to see a Thom Bierdz, Tricia Cast and Lauralee Bell reunion?

Nina Investigates Cane on The Young and the Restless

Nina (Tricia Cast) is digging into Cane's (Daniel Goddard) past and it has Cane dodging her questions like Vince Vaughn in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

The Life, Times and Death (?) of Y&R's Phillip Chancellor III

WIth the red hot CBS soap The Young and the Restless making waves by bringing back the wildly popular Thom Bierdz, some newer or casual Y&R viewers are probably wondering what the significance is of having the actor who played the original adult Phillip Chancellor III back on the canvas. One DC regular Blackjack21 emailed us with a request for Phillip's backstory. Since I was only a mere, randy thought in my teenage parents minds when they storyline began back in the 70's, I had to break out the trusty Y&R Anniversary Scrapbook, as well as pay a visit to online soap opera encyclopedia Soap Central to make sure I hit all the high notes. Will Jill Abbott Come Out of the Closet at Kay's Wedding on Y&R?

New York Daily News writer Carolyn Hinsey has juicy scoop on next week's Young and Restless nuptials between octagerian uber couple Kay and Murphy (Jeanne Cooper and Michael Fairman). Apparently Kay's nasty, not-so-daughter Jill decides to crashes the affair! Thank the Soap Gods for Nina (Tricia Cast)!

"Nina locks her in a closet," says Walton with a laugh. "They do flash-cuts from the wedding to Jill in the closet. It's so great. Lauren finds her and lets her out."

So how'd y'all like my soap mag-style headline trickery? For more of Hinsey's sneek peek go to New York Daily News.

Guiding Light's Driscoll Gets "Restless"

He may have just flatlined in Peapack, but former Guiding Light star John Driscoll (Ex-Coop) is set to prove just how alive and well he is in Genoa City, Wisconsin. Driscoll has landed the plum role of Phillip Chancellor IV on The Young and the Restless.

John was so good during his audition the casting director actually cried!, says a source.

The actor auditioned opposite Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe), whom he will be reportedly sharing a storyline with.
