Goodbye Tony: The End of the DiMera Empire - 'Salute'

Extra! Extra! Read All About It! - Thaao Penghlis is out as Tony DiMera on Days of Our Lives. One could now ask where this would leave several Days storylines - a show of drama, surrounded in drama. Does this spell the end of the true authentic DiMera empire? We have been privileged to see Tony and Stefano opposite eachother on screen for many years in the 80's and have since been reunited on screen in recent times. Rumour has it that Tony will leave the show in a 'blaze of glory' or big Salem murder mystery. I see the potential of this being a major sweeps storyline, but the question now arises as to where Leann Hunley fits into the Days of Our Lives equation. Will Anna stay in Salem and find herself a new beau? Or will the almighty Executives at NBC further chop the cast list and send Leann packing - just like they have Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall? BREAKING NEWS: Top Days Producer Confirms Thaao's Exit; Does Corday Hate Hall and Hogestyn?

Rumors
of Tony DiMera's demise (Or is it Andre?) appear to be true. TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco revealed in his Suds Report that Thaao Penghlis has indeed been fired.

Ratings stunt alert: The Suds Report has exclusively learned from high-level DAYS producers that one half of the Anna-Tony super-couple pairing will die in a  major murder mystery in March. The Suds Report can confirm that Thaao Penghlis (Tony) has been fired. So where does that leave Leann Hunley (Anna)?

In other Days scoop from Suds, Branco reveals shocking details concerning why Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn were allegedly fired from the NBC sudser. READ MORE

DAYS RUMOR: Has Thaao Penghlis Been Fired?

For days now RUMORS have been circulating about yet another veteran actor being canned from Days of Our Lives. Well, we just received a tip that the vet in question is Thaao Penghlis, who has played the dual roles of Tony and Andre DiMera on and off for well over two decades. According to the tip, the source of the rumor is the anonymous blogger the Diva of Days of Our Lives. We are running this as strictly a RUMOR at this point, since we couldn't get confirmation from any of our sources.

Now I can't be a hypocrite here, when it was announced that Days had to cut veteran salaries to stay on the air, the first people I thought of were Penghlis and his leading lady Leanne Hunley (Anna). I adore the pairing, and have since I was a little kid, but getting rid of Tony and Anna or even Patch and Kayla (Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans), who I also love, always made more sense to me than axing John and Marlena, but with Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall already gone, wouldn't you think the brass would want to utilize the vets they have left?

Thanks Angmc for the tip!

Days of Our Lives: Drake Hogestyn, Deidre Hall, Thaao Penghlis & Ken Corday Interviewed In Australia.

In light of the all the ongoing turmoil on Days of Our Lives right now, take a minute to watch this video. It almost makes me want to vomit. You know sometimes in life, words do come back to haunt you in some way, shape or form. In October 2007, Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Thaao Penghlis and wait for it...Ken Corday, were interviewed by Australian show host Kerri-Anne.

It's almost like a complete 360. Deidre talks about her love for the role she plays as Marlena, while Drake and Deidre talk about their highlights on the show and their favourite character moments. But wait for Ken Corday. He starts his 'speech' by saying he was 14 when Days of Our Lives was on, and it was not cool to watch soap opera's. He also goes on to say that he felt honoured to continue the legacy his parents left him. Complete and utter vomit. READ MORE

Days of Our Lives: Anniversary Tribute

November 8 marked 43 years of Days of Our Lives on our screens. I know lately we have been less than satisfied at what the show has had to offer, but to celebrate the rich history of the show, I felt the need to take a trip back down memory lane. Soaps have that effect on people. You get carried away to a place filled with fantasy and nostalgia - after all this is where it all began soaps. We hope one day our favourite shows will return to the landmark it once used to be. Big Sigh.

There are so many characters in this clip, too many to mention, but it's actually worth the 9 or so minutes. The scary thing about this, at the halfway mark, you actually begin to think of your age. I know I did anyway - a frightful experience. Ok, so I've just turned 30, but why in God's name can I remember things like Kimberly giving birth to Andrew in a stable just like it was yesterday. See, that's nostalgia for you. READ MORE
