ABC soap's grand dames are telling the truth and shaming the devil (aka ABC Daytime Chief Brian Frons) as their soaps prepare to leave the network TV airwaves. In a touching, two-page spread in the Aug. 29-Sept. 11 issue of TV Guide Magazine, Susan Lucci (Erica) reveals to Michael Logan her questions about what lead to ABC cancelling All My Children:
"I don't have the answers, but I certainly have a lot of questions," says the star. 'Was there disdain for daytime drama on the part of [ABC Daytime chief] Brian Frons? Did he every really like what we did at All My Children?"
Just before ABC turns the lights off on All My Children and they ride off into the Prospect Park sunset, SOAPNet will air a 48 hour marathon of your favorite romances and Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) moments. Starting Sept. 17 at 7, the network will kick things off with "I Love Lucci" a five-episode marathon of some of Erica's most memorable storylines. READ MORE
Susan Lucci Offered, "Basically The Same Salary She Currently Has at ABC" to Stay With All My Children!By Jamey Giddens on August 18, 2011
Prospect Park is continuing to show they're playing for keeps. According to Deadline the production company has made daytime soap opera's biggest name Susan Lucci a contract offer essentially equitable to what she currently makes at ABC, to continue with All My Children as it moves online and to other platforms. Lucci is reportedly mulling over the fantastic offer. Looks like the ball is in La Lucci's court!
Will Susan Lucci head to Wisteria Lane or somewhere else? The good folks over at ABC Soaps In Depth got the tea from Desperate Housewives' creator Marc Cherry on if La Lucci will pack her bags to head for his fictious street as rumors insist. Cherry stated:
I just had lunch with Susan Lucci," Cherry exclusively tells In Depth. "And I don't know that she'll be on DESPERATE, but hopefully maybe something in the future." READ MORE
Soap vet-turned-Seinfeld's J. Peterman-turned-Dancing With The Stars hoofer John O'Hurley is making a return to the Land O' Suds. ABC Soaps in Depth is reporting the veteran of Loving, The Edge of Night, Santa Barbara, The Young and the Restless, As The World Turns and General Hospital will be adding All My Children to his resume in an upcoming arc opposite Erica Kane herself Susan Lucci. In a bit of Six Degrees of Soaperation, O'Hurley is the ex-husband of AMC alum and recent returnee Eva La Rue (Maria).
Why Prospect Park Should Make Susan Lucci an Executive Producer on New All My Children to Get Her to Sign OnBy Jamey Giddens on July 13, 2011
Will Susan Lucci actually make the digital leap with All My Children to the web? That definitely seems to be the million dollar question. While reports have surfaced that Lucci is planning to make the move online with the series, her rep tells ABC Soaps In Depth, Lucci "hasn't made any plans."
This is where it's time for Prospect Park to take a page from primetime and film and cut the project's biggest star in on the proceeds in order to entice her onboard. Susan Lucci and Erica Kane are just as essential to All My Children as Sarah Jessica Parker and Carrie Bradshaw were to Sex and the City. I say make Lucci a deal to be co-executive producer right alongside Julie Hanan Caruthers, and give her a stake in the series' profits, much like Darren Starr did with Parker and the SATC franchise. Lord knows Lucci's earned it. Who, other than Agnes Nixon, knows Pine Valley's lore better than La Lucci? READ MORE
