Should Ryan Seacrest Replace Matt Lauer on The Today Show?

According to the Wall Street Journal, NBC executives have approached American Idol host and purveyor of all things Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, about possibly becoming Matt Lauer’s successor at The Today Show.  Talk about a head scratcher.

I grew up watching Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel anchor NBC’s Today. I enjoyed Katie Couric and Matt Lauer’s time together. After Couric left for the CBS Evening News, I welcomed Meredith Vieira’s addition to the morning show. When Vieira decided to leave and Ann Curry took over, the transition was seamless.  I wouldn’t watch Today with Seacrest as a primary host. I’d just spend more time watching Morning Joe or replace Today with Good Morning America.

Darren Criss Among GQ's 25 Most Stylish TV Men

My fondness for this actor is well documented on this blog, but now GQ agrees that Darren Criss is among the most dapper men on TV. The Glee breakout star joins a list of 25 performers for GQ's June issue, including American Idol's Ryan Seacrest, Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick, and True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard. Also in the issue are a dozen adorable pictures of Criss for the magazine's Summer Wedding Primer shoot. Criss also talks about his sudden rise to fame:

"It's all very relaxing," [Criss] says. "You get a trailer on-set. You get treated really well." To keep it that way, Criss has devised a way to get around incognito: "I don't shave when I'm not working."

Toscano was a better singer than almost everyone left in the competition, and she was perceived as the undisputed frontrunner. Even if she wasn't going to win, she seemed destined for a spot in the finals, so to finish in 9th place was quite a shock. What went wrong, and how can Idol fix it?
