Sara Bibel Lists 10 Reasons Why Daytime TV Won't Be The Same After 2011

In 2011 daytime television had more drama going on behind the scenes than an episode of your favorite soap opera. With ABC axing two iconic soaps,  Oprah and Regis Philbin bidding adieu and much more, it makes you wonder what 2012 will bring.  Deep Soap's Sara Bibel has published a Top 10 list detailing some of 2011's game changing moments for daytime TV. Regis Philbin is Exploring Return to Primetime

Regis Philbin may have hung up his hat at Live With Regis and Kelly, but don’t count him out just yet. According to the New York Post, Philbin is exploring a primetime talent show.

“We’re contemplating a show that is sort of a talent show, but it involves the whole family,” Philbin told Page Six, adding, “a family competition, which is something new in our business. It’s going to be on prime time when it happens.”

Rachael Ray Weighs in on Katie Couric, Ricki Lake and The Chew

Is Rachael Ray worried about competition from Katie Couric and Ricki Lake’s new talk shows next fall or ABC’s The Chew this season? When asked about the topics by Zap2it, Ray responded:

"I'm a huge Katie fan, and I think she's going to kill it. And I love Ricki. There's going to be a lot of great television to watch. I think those are probably both afternoon-type shows, and the afternoon hasn't settled in yet. There isn't another 'Oprah,' and there never will be, but there isn't a lot of smart talk going on in the afternoon."

V.P. of Publicity For Live With Regis and Kelly Claims Publicist's Account Was "Hacked"

 




Boy oh boy, those ABC Daytimers really need to get better firewalls! Once again someone working for the lineup has allegedly been hacked on Twitter. Following our decision to post the tweet from Live With Regis and Kelly publicist/producer Brittany Forgione's personal account allegedly stating how happy she was that the soaps were over, Forgione's boss, Barbara Warren, vice-president of publicity for the talk show, contacted us saying Forgione had been hacked and demanded we remove the post. Talk about kicking soap fans when they're down. Live With Regis and Kelly's PR rep Brittany Forgione rejoiced on Twitter about how happy she is All My Children was replaced by The Chew. The publicist tweeted:

Regis Philbin Bids Live With Regis and Kelly Goodbye November 18

Since Regis Philbin announced in January that he’d be retiring from Live With Regis and Kelly, fans have wondered when he’d host his last show. Today Philbin revealed on 'Live' when his last day on the popular talk show will be, November 18.  Philbin’s replacement and Kelly Ripa's future co-host has not been chosen.
