Let General Hospital's Ladies Lead

Now that most of Garin Wolf’s storylines have wrapped or are evolving into something new, GH no longer feels like it's jumping from one thing to the next. We’re beginning to see umbrella storylines immerge. Before, I rarely watched General Hospital live. Now, thanks to storyline hooks, I’ve found myself watching it live more and more. With Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini firmly in place, it's time to infuse Port Charles with what made them so great in Llanview, their leading ladies.

At One Life to Live Carlivati excelled at driving storylines by capitalizing on the struggles, rivalries and love lives of its female characters. To me it was his biggest strength. Who didn’t enjoy his writing for Dorian (Robin Strasser) vs. Viki (Erika Slezak)? Blair (Kassie DePaiva) and Tea’s (Florencia Lozano) frenemy status was often more enjoyable to watch than in their opposite sex romantic pairings. Natalie (Melissa Archer) took on any woman in her path, even her sister. We may have called Jessica (Bree Williamson) “Messica" on the podcast, but even the men in that crazy character’s life revolved around her, not the other way around.

The men of General Hospital have led the pack for years. It's time for the ladies to take the lead and let Carlivati play up one of his strengths.  READ MORE

GH's Steve Burton: "Liz's Fantasy is Going to Drive The Fans Crazy!"

As Jason goes under the knife on General Hospital, TV Guide’s Michael Logan caught up with Steve Burton.  In the interview they discuss the fantasy sequences, specifically Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst), and Jason’s engagement to Sam (Kelly Monaco).

TV Guide Magazine: These fantasy sequences sound like real fan-pleasers, especially for the Liz and Jason nuts who have never given up — or shut up — about a "Liason" reunion.

Burton: They have a real passion for seeing Elizabeth and Jason together and this is only going to make it worse! But that's a good thing. [Laughs] Liz's fantasy is going to drive the fans crazy! I think this idea has always been in the viewers' minds. What if Jason got in another accident? How would he wake up? Would he return to his old self? So we're doing some cool stuff with that. With the exception of Sam, who doesn't want Jason to change at all, everyone wants him to be somebody else. Monica wants her son back. Carly still has that little glimmer of hope that it might work out romantically for her and Jason. Their fantasies were a chance for me, after many, many years, to lighten up and loosen up and have fun playing a few different Jasons.

When asked about Jason’s relationship with Sam, Burton responded. READ MORE

General Hospital's Ingo Rademacher: "Where Are My Scenes With Elizabeth?"

Ingo Rademacher (Jax) is continuing to state the painfully obvious about the storytelling for his popular character on General Hospital. In an interview with ABC Soaps In Depth, Rademacher not only clarifies that he is still on contract, but ponders why Jax has been MIA for much of the beats of the Josslyn/Jake storyline.

"Where were my scenes with Elizabeth?" he wonders. "When we had the surrogate storyline [where Liz carried Jax and Courtney's child], we had great scenes together. Her baby died; his lived. They should have had a scene." READ MORE
