More Random Thoughts About Five Soaps

My absence from Daytime Confidential lately has not been due to the usual business of family and work taking up a lot of my time, but rather a certain lack energy to post about practically any of the daytime serials that clog up my DVR from day to day. This is neither a positive nor a negative thing because there are frequent periods throughout the year when shows kind of coast along and do their their thing, usually between sweeps.

At these times, there is little for the viewer — if that viewer is me — to get all worked up about this plot twist, that character's action, some couple or another or even a whole show's direction. Normally, this state of affairs hits one or two shows at a time. Every once in a while like the last couple of weeks, the stars align and all the serials get caught in the same momentum of drift. All that is required of us is to watch and see where it all goes.

In that spirit, my brain plays a little game of soap opera hopscotch, taking in odds and ends big and small. There is no great elaboration on anything here, just a quick rundown of things I like and not like so much. Your mileage may vary... READ MORE

Noelle Beck's Lily Snyder, Torn Between Two Men?

In an interview at Michael Fairman SoapsNoelle Beck responds to the question of whether or not Lily is being torn between Holden (Jon Hensley) and Damian (Paolo Seganti).

MICHAEL: Is Lily going to find herself torn between these two guys, again?

NOELLE: Not initially. She is only torn because she really believes in Damian, and Holden doesn’t, and Luke is skeptical. The story started out with Lily and Noah trusting Damian and everyone else is very skeptic about him. Then that changes. I think maybe they will go in that direction, and I hope they do. But from the beginning, it’s more about Damian having come back to bond with his son and ask for forgiveness, and to be a part of his life. I think Lily trusts him.

As the World Turns Daily Recap: Enough With The Z's

Bits of annoying banter started off this week for As the World Turns....let's just hope it doesn't dominate the week.

First off lets start with the couple who are definitely not going to make it long term, Parker Munson and Liberty Ciccone. Liberty is far beyond Parker in maturity and you can already tell she wants out. However for now she seems to be letting him get his way as she agreed to turn down the internship of a lifetime. Meanwhile Parker is acting more like a 5 year old then a teen with his pouting and temper tantrums. And I don't care who you are you never speak to your mother the way he spoke to his mom Carly Tenney today, even if he did have a point on the drinking issue. READ MORE
