This Week in Daytime: Flaxen Haired Fools

This Week in Daytime,

I teared up at As the World Turns’ tribute to Nancy Hughes (Helen Wagner). The episode contained so many wonderful flashbacks. I was in the midst of patting myself on the back for not letting it get to me when they began Nancy’s Thanksgiving prayer and I knew I was a goner. Of course, that touching scene was immediately followed by Katie’s (Terri Colombino) flashbacks of Nancy. I know each ATWT fan has their own fond memories, but there are three reasons I fell in love with ATWT and Oakdale. 1) I discovered ATWT because it was where my beloved Another World characters ended up. 2) I couldn’t get enough of Jack (Michael Park) and Carly’s (Maura West) on again/off again relationship 3). Katie and Simon’s (Paul Leyden) romance–nurtured by Nancy–hooked me. Share your favorite Nancy Hughes moments in the comments. We miss you Helen Wagner.

When Estrogen Deprivation Attacks: What Did You Think of The Real Homewreckers of Genoa City Eppy of Y&R?

On Tuesday's all-girl parts episode of The Young and The Restless, a scorned Phyllis Summers Romalotti Abbott Newman (Michelle Stafford) took to her laptop for a little poisoned typing. The result was The Real Homewreckers of Genoa City blog, which basically ripped everyone in Genoa City to shreds for being a bunch of horizontal terrorists.

As Fancast's Sara Bibel pointed out in her smart review, someone might want to remind Phyllis she stole Nick (Joshua Morrow) from Share Bear (Sharon Case) first. Like my late Grandma always said, you lose 'em the same way you get em!

So what do you guys and gals think?

Three Things to be Young and Restless About Right Now!

We soap lovers can be as scathing as the most hardcore sports fan when it seems our favorite daytime players are asleep on the bench or the writing team is making bad plays. Though I find myself cursing at my TV for some of the recent shenanigans on The Young and the Restless, it’s a reason why I still tune in, and the good must be acknowledged. Giving props where they are due, I want to speak on three things that I’m loving right now about Y&R.

Ring around the rosey, pocket full of...polygamy?
After donning fetch, designer hooker heels to traipse around in a corn field to solve the Mystery of the Missing Adam (Jinkies!) this past week on The Young and the Restless, Nick Newman's (Joshua Morrow) two best dames Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) are about to make their Big Love fan's dream come true, by moving the three of them all onto the Newman Ranch together. CBS Soaps in Depth has all the dirt. Check out the blurb below, then go pick up a copy of the magazine, on news stands now! READ MORE

Y&R's Michelle Stafford: "The Stories, Recently, Have Been More Plot-Driven"

In an interview with the official Y&R website discussing her 8th Daytime Emmy nomination, The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford reveals who she called first after learning of her nomination (costar and fellow nominee Doug Davidson), who was first to congratulate her (show runner Maria Arena Bell) and how she feels Phyllis has changed this past, more plot-driven year in Genoa City.

Y&R Insider: Do you feel like Phyllis has changed a lot in the past year? Do I dare say that she almost seemed to be more centered in the midst of all of the chaos…

Michelle Stafford: Phyllis has always been very focused. I think the coupling up with Nick's character has changed her a bit. Coupling with new characters always changes things a bit.

Y&R Insider:The storylines were very intense this year, yet it seemed like everyone seemed to have a moment to really shine in the storytelling… READ MORE
