Michael Muhney Extends Time at Y&R

If you’re a fan of Michael Muhney’s dastardly Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless, don’t expect to see him leave Genoa City anytime soon. According to Soaps in Depth, Muhney has signed “a new multi-year deal with soap.”

DC #622: BOMBSHELL Michael Muhney Interview

He's BAAACK! That's right The Young and the Restless lovers, Michael Muhney aka the dastardly Adam Newman, returns to the Daytime Confidential podcast. Tune in to hear the passionate actor talk with Luke Kerr, Jamey Giddens and Jillian Bowe about the goings on in Genoa City and the rest of the soap game.

Now that his damsel in perennial distress Sharon (Sharon Case) is playing opposum, while hugging baby lambs on some farm off in God's country, who would Muhney like to see Adam paired with? His answer may surprise you, but not if you're capable of following the impressive actor's stream of consciousness poetic waxings.

What does Muhney think of the current state the daytime television industry finds itself in? Hear why he says soaps have to step up their game to stick around. Then Muhney goes IN about his views on the Daytime Emmy nomination process, taking NATAS to task for what he feels is a system that doesn't see the best and brightest of daytime receive the recognition they deserves. Fasten your seatbelts kiddies, we haven't had a podcast this hot-like-fiya in a long time!

Who Should Y&R's Adam Newman Be With?

On this week’s Daytime Confidential podcast we discussed who The Young and the Restless' Adam (Michael Muhney) should be paired with.  Jillian Bowe is loving Adam’s chemistry with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) in Thailand,  while I refuse to give up my devotion to Adam and Sharon (Sharon Case). The topic got me wondering who fans would like to see Adam with?

Pettiness and Cliquey Behavior Still Reign Supreme, Re: Daytime Emmy Pre-Noms

The official website for the popular Blog Talk Radio soap podcast Buzzworthy Radio is reporting the 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Pre-Nominations are out. If the list below is any indication, pettiness and clique think still reigns supreme, especially on the set of The Young and the Restless. On what planet would Eric Braeden, Melody Thomas Scott and Michael Muhney not have made their respective categories pre-nom cuts? Bull to tha shiz. I mean, so yeah, Braeden is an arrogant, media hog, but he's also an amazing actor!

I am especially ticked about Muhney. I am sorry, but he and Billy Miller have been carrying The Young and the Restless on their backs for at least two seasons now. Peter Bergman (Jack) and Christian LeBlanc (Michael)are phenomenal actors, two of the best ever in daytime—and I am a huge fan of their bodies of work—but they weren't leads this past year and everyone who watches this soap opera knows it.

Come on, Michael Baldwin is the textbook definition of a supporting character on Y&R! He supports Victor's legal dramas. He supports Lauren's (Tracey Bregman) post-doppelganger anxieties. When did he lead a storyline last year? Bergman's Jack had bigger story last year, but it wasn't anything in comparison to Billy's or Adam's arcs. Oh well, at least Miller got a Supporting Actor pre-nom.   Check out the picks after the jump!

Who Needs Characterization on The Young and the Restless?

Although the November Sweeps ship has sailed, I am amazed at the number of Whodunits, MIA’s and Dead Men Walking on The Young and the Restless. Sadly, these casualties I speak of are not part of the current storylines. I’m referring to the shocking personality changes of key characters which have rendered them virtually unrecognizable to the viewers who love them. Seeing characters get hacked away is akin to watching a bad horror movie: You hear the eerie music and the revving of the chainsaws, but you hope against hope the assailant won’t be so savage, or that the victim will escape in a nick of time. Let’s pour some out for the characters who are no longer here with us.
