To continue with the celebration of General Hospital’s 50th anniversary, Finola Hughes and Jason Thompson will take part in a two-day special episode of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with host Meredith Vieira, starting April 1. Both Hughes and Thompson will partner up on the game show and donate their winnings to The Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization that encourages musicians, actors and artists to volunteer their talents and time with sick children.
Vieira will also return to GH to tie in with the show’s anniversary as former madam-turned-cosmetics exec Bree Flanders. Take a peek at Vieira slipping back into her old role after the jump! READ MORE
What might Meredith Vieira do to keep herself busy after leaving Who Wants to be a Millionaire? According to the New York Times, Vieira is exploring returning to daytime television with a syndicated talks show, produced by a division of NBC Universal. Reportedly, Vieira’s talk show could replace The Jeff Probst Show.
The 10 stations owned by NBC are among those that carry Mr. Probst, but his show is underperforming the season’s other new entrants, including Ms. Couric and Steve Harvey, whose talk show is syndicated by NBCUniversal. NBC might seek to pair Mr. Harvey’s show with one by Ms. Vieira. READ MORE
After 11 years of hosting Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, Meredith Vieira will vacate her duties on the popular, syndicated game show. The View's former moderator and ex-Today show host will continue on with the show until the end of the season when a new host will take over.
In a released statement, a Disney/ABC spokeswoman said:
It's the final year of Meredith's contract. She has chosen to move on and pursue other opportunities. We are searching for a new host.
Ten years after her first stint on General Hospital, Meredith Vieira is back. TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan spoke with the former co-host of The View and The Today Show to get the skinny on what her character Bree Flanders will be up to when she hits Port Charles on Dec. 14.
TV Guide Magazine: You were such a hoot as Bree. What's become of our girl?
Vieira: Well, she's no longer providing comfort to men! Lynn Herring returns to the show as Lucy Coe [also Friday] and it turns out Bree is her senior vp of marketing at CoeCoe Cosmetics. Sabrina and Felix are desperately trying to get a meeting with Lucy but first they have to go through me. [Laughs] But, really, not much has changed for Bree. Prostitution. Makeup. Hey, it's all sales.
One of America's favorite talking heads is on her way back to Port Charles. Former Today and The View co-host Meredith Vieira will be checking back into General Hospital later this season. Here's what she dished to TV Guide's Michael Logan in regards to her upcoming, 50th Anniversary tie-in trip to Port Chuck:
"We have stars from GH playing Millionaire later this season, then I'll go over there to do a role. The last time I did GH was 10 years ago. They had me playing a whorehouse madam! [Laughs] God only know what they'll do to me this time!" READ MORE
