No. 10: Neil and Harmony, The Young and the Restless
We're sure the brass at The Young and the Restless hoped pairing uptight, buppie Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) with another sassy, sistah from the streets would generate the same kind of heat Neil's relationship with street urchin-turned-fashionista Drucilla Barber (Victoria Rowell) accomplished in the 90's. It didn't.
Man, was it painful to watch two popular, talented soap stars like St. John as Debbi Morgan—as promiscuous, recovering crackhead Harmony— attempt to manufacture chemistry where there obviously wasn't any to be found.
Even if viewers already suspected it, Daniel (Shawn Christian) confesses to Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) that he still loves her this week on Days of Our Lives. Nicole's (Arianne Zucker) manipulative ways are sure to cause serious problems for any chance of an easy reunion for Daniel and Jennifer. Watch this week’s DAYS promo after the jump! READ MORE
Just when things were starting to look up for Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) on The Young and the Restless, he had to go and get mixed up with Phyllis Newman (Michelle Stafford)! TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan chatted with Rikaart to find out what's going to happen once the police and Kevin's big brother—District Attorney Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc)—learn he's somehow connected to a very dead Dr. Tim (Aaron Lustig)!
Rikaart also shared why he felt strong enough about Days of Our Lives' Melissa Reeves "free speech" tweet in support of anti-LGBT Chick-fil-A to take a very public stance against her. Here are a few excerpts from the interview:
TV Guide Magazine: So accurate that I hear even Kevin's brother, Michael [Christian LeBlanc], will think he has a shady connection to Reid's death.
Rikaart: Kevin is so ethically challenged it was only a matter of time before he and Michael were on opposite sides of the law, especially now that Michael is the D.A. Before this, Kevin always went to his brother for help. Not this time. He decides to lie to him, which only make things worse. Michael will insist that Kevin come down to the police station and meet with Beth face-to-face. But it's really no crime to move a dead body...is it?
Days of Our Lives' Melissa Reeves has decided to shut down her Twitter account. The actress caused a heated debate, among soap fans, fellow actors and the soap and mainstream press, when she tweeted support of Chick-fil-A Appriciation Day earlier this month. On deciding to close her account, Reeves tweeted:
Crystal Chappell Defends Ex-DAYS Co-Star Melissa Reeves: "The Person We Know and Love...is NOT a Bigot"By Jillian Bowe on August 15, 2012
Gay advocate Crystal Chappell has come out to defend her former Days Of Our Lives co-star Melissa Reeves, following Reeves' controversial Twitter support of Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day. In a blog post entitled, "Missy", Chappell shared what happened when she contacted mutual gay and married friends of Reeves. Here's an excerpt:
I reached out to our gay and married friends. Missy had called them in tears soon after the shit hit the fan. She told them how much she loved them and that the implication of that tweet was not what she intended. She said she saw half a tweet about Cluck Filet and thought she was supporting Free Speech. Nothing more. I thought...OK. Um....twitter fuck up? I've stepped into twitter convoys without really knowing what was being talked about and made a mess for myself unintentionally. Realizing after I stepped into it that I don’t at all support the person's words I stood up for. OK....it happens. And then I asked our gay and married friends...well, why not just say that to the folks in twitter land? Was someone telling her not to? Is it work related? Ostrich in the sand syndrome? If I don’t see it, it doesn’t exist kind of thing? Blonde moment? The more time went by the more frustrated I and my friends became. It started to hurt. We all know Missy has very strong religious beliefs but the person we know and love....is NOT a bigot. READ MORE
The Young and the Restless star Greg Rikaart (Kevin) is continuing to drive home the point that issues surrounding support of Chick-fil-A's recent "Appreciation Day" had little to do with free speech, and a whole lot to do with sanctioning and cloaking bigotry. The passionate actor blogged for The Huffington Post about his recent tweet to fellow Sony TV soap star, Melissa Reeves (Jennifer, Days of Our Lives), who had previously tweeted her support of Chick-fil-A. Below are a few excerpts. READ MORE
