Just when One Life to Live's Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier) finally seems to have it all, a new "dad", the girl of his dreams-minus her mother's meddling-(or so he thinks) in walks Gigi (Farah Fath), the sassy, street smart girl he dated 10 years ago, complete with a pretty cool kid in tow. So what's a guy to do? Should Rex finally head down that aisle with Adriana (Melissa Fumero), or see if he and Gigi have a shot at happiness?
Picture it. Cyberspace, 2008. A humble soap blogger and podcaster with big dreams coins a term to describe the transformation of a once lackluster soap heroine into a surprisingly bitchy and suddenly relevant character, complete with a fetch new do, never expecting it to go any further than his little soap site-that-could, then it happened.
On today's episode of One Life to Live, Adriana Cramer (Melissa Fumero) referred to herself as "Bitchy Bangs"! Luke and I recently interviewed pioneering soap journalist Mimi Torchin (check back for that interview soon) and asked how it felt to have a term she coined-SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome)-become part of industry vernacular, well now it looks like our boy Luke will know first hand!
Luke came up with the term "Bitchy Bangs" during episode #230 ABC Bitchy Bangs of the Daytime Confidential ABC podcast, while discussing Adriana's new personality and cut with Belinda and Tina. We got the tip from eagle-eared viewer Terry and trust me, Luke is so ecstatic he's choosing his dancing partner for the "Virgina Reel" as we speak. Okay, so he's not doing that...but he is feeling mighty swell! A MAJOR shout out to OLTL's brilliant and much-missed-during-the-Strike scribe Ron Carlivati for throwing a wink at DC's frontman.
I was laughing my behind off at how Adriana knew all the words to "Sensual Seduction". Now she knows they didn't let her listen to hip hop at that convent Dorian had her tucked away at! Do yo thang Bitchy Bangs! I ain't mad at you, have fun at your bachelorette party, because Gigi's going to make sure your wedding is the pits!
What really bothers me is that Jesse Soffer and Jennifer Landon are leaving As the World Turns. Sure they're character's couple is the most boring thing on the show under 30 but why couldn't the writers break the couple up and then give them something juicy to sink their teeth into?
And what about the ABC cover. As someone who has only been watching All My Children for ten years I didn't have the "pleasure" of watching them the first time around and I am more than a little intrigued to see what their return does for the show. Granted, a successful return is dependant in no small part on the ability of the people who are writing for them (and lets face it we have a huge question mark when it comes to that) but I'm definitely looking forward to what is in store for this couple.
