Diva Smackdown: Stacy Haiduk vs. Maura West

When it comes to being in a scene, Maura West and Stacy Haiduk command attention without lifting a finger. The Young and the Restless' Maria Arena Bell missed a huge opportunity to showcase the acting chops of these two dynamite ladies and play up their character's huge rivalry and rich history (Jack was banging Diane in the shower on his wedding day to Patty Cakes!). With everything that is playing out onscreen–thanks to the devious Diane–it makes you wonder, who would win a battle between West's Diane and Haiduk's Patty if these two explosive actresses had gone head-to-head.

Who would win in a scene smackdown, Maura West as Diane or Stacy Haiduk as Patty?

Why Sony and CBS Have to Either Let Maria Arena Bell Helm Y&R Her Way or Fire Her

Is anyone else experiencing any soapy flashbacks, set to Nadia's Theme of course, to when Maria Arena Bell first managed to wrest control of The Young and the Restless from Lynn Marie Latham and later Josh Griffith? I certainly have been, thanks to all these backstage casting dramas.

Once Ri Ri was the HIIC (Head In-Law in Charge) she quickly undid everything Latham had done on the soap, even killing Victor's (Eric Braeden) dog! We didn't mind it so much, because LML wasn't the greatest of writers for Y&R (although LML never had Daytime Emmy-winner Greg Rikaart dressed as a rodent, had two doppelganger stories going at once, or had to have Jesse, Al and Victoria Rowell force her to write for the black folks), but it was evident to all that MAB was cleaning house. Basically the only major LML addition who survived the soap cleansing was Cane Ashby as played by the popular Daniel Goddard.

While we hear MAB was itching to toss the character of Cane and the actor out on their Aussie bums way back when, the network aka Barbara Bloom said "Not no, but hell no" due to the popularity of Cane's romance with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). Although Cane and Lily have never been a favorite pairing of this blog's, I did get where the network was coming from. They are very popular. Don't believe me? Try dissing the pairing on Twitter. You'll see the blue whale in five seconds flat from all the incensed retweets. In this day and age it really doesn't make sense to piss off soap fans who are still that diehard, all for the sake of banishing any memory of a prior regime and/or high school-esque backstage b.s.  READ MORE

Maura West Out at The Young and The Restless?!

Is Maura West getting a pink slip? According to CBS Soaps In Depth, the actress has been fired from The Young and the Restless. As of right now, there is no final airdate and Y&R is remaining mum on if the talented actress is out.

Now That The Arbitration is Done, Will We Get More "Dick" on Y&R?

Shick vs. Phick vs. Phack vs. Shadam vs...Dick? That's right The Young and the Restless lovers, those intense fan base wars received a new dynamic the moment Diane Jenkins (Maura West) first bedded her ex's son Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) in a scorching hot scene on the sudser.

During a telephone chat between Morrow and bloggers earlier this week, I piggybacked off of Buzzworthy Radio's NaVell J. Lee's question about how the fallout from the arbitration will impact Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick's relationship to ask if their would be any more "Dick" in our lives on Y&R. Here's what the hunky actor had to say:

Daytime Confidential: You mentioned that Nick is still in love with Sharon. A lot of fans have really enjoyed his relationship with Diane played by Maura West. Do you think we’ll see anything further with that thread now that his father’s back in his mother's orbit? Will there be a free chance for Nick and Diane?

Joshua Morrow: You know, I’m not sure where Nick and Diane are headed. It’s a pretty tough thing to be able to get past, to start to develop a relationship with a woman and then find out she’s been lying to you behind your back and sleeping with your father. I know it’s a soap opera where people tend to forgive people for pretty intense things, but I don’t know how they can build anything after that happened. Nick is a very…he’s got a lot of pride in him and I think it really threw him that she would go down this path with his father, as well as him. So again, I’m not sure. I know they were building to something, but it would be a tough pill to swallow, I think, for me in real life if found that happening.

Ex-ATWT Stars Find Their Next Acts

Former As the World Turns vixens Terri Colombino and Maura West (pictured above with Jake Silbermann, Eileen Fulton and Michael Park) have found work on other soaps, but in an excellent piece entitled "Stay Tuned for Soap Stars’ Next Acts" ,The New York Times takes a look what your other favorite former ATWT stars are doing to keep busy these days.

Two years later Mr. Silbermann began writing a short film script about a drug-smuggling American soldier returning from Iraq. He gave himself a secondary (but juicy) role as a tattooed, slightly demented drug connection. “I knew at the very least it would improve my reel,” Mr. Silbermann said.

With more than $50,000 raised through the online fund-raising site Kickstarter (and the loyalty of generous Nuke fans) Mr. Silbermann and the director, Nathan Crooker, shot “Stuffer” over four days last summer. The film, which Mr. Silbermann hopes to expand to feature length, won the jury prize for best short film at the Royal Flush Festival last month. READ MORE

“I am, in a word, encouraged,” Mr. Silbermann said.
