Nikita's Lyndsy Fonseca on The Young and the Restless: “It Was Like a TV Boot Camp”

Some former soap stars try to play down their time on soaps, but Nikita star Lyndsy Fonseca tells the San Jose Mercury News her time on The Young and the Restless, as Colleen Carlton, helped prepared her for primetime.

Q: You started out by working for three years on "The Young and the Restless." Do you look back fondly on your soap opera days?

The CW's Nikita Goes Rogue September 9

The CW’s Nikita might just be my most anticipated show of the fall, thanks in no small part to my love for its predecessor, Le Femme Nikita. Sorry Alias fans, but La Femme Nikita is my all time favorite leading lady, kick butt action series. In this incarnation of the Nikita franchise, the talented Maggie Q stars as Nikita, the rogue spy/assassin, determined to bring down the secret government agency she once worked for, Division. The series made a brilliant decision in casting Melinda Clarke (Julie Cooper, The O.C.) as the manipulative Division psychologist Amanda. The Young and the Restless grad Lyndsy Fonseca plays the Division’s newest recruit Alex, while actors Shane West, Aaron Stanford, Ashton Holmes, Tiffany Hines and Xander Berkeley round out the cast.

Another reason to be excited about Nikita’s premiere is the love it’s getting from TV critics. Nikita took down all but two of this fall’s new series on Zap2it’s "13 Must-See Shows" list at No. 3 behind HBO’s Board Walk Empire at No. 2 and Fox’s Lonestar at No. 1:

“Maggie Q is nothing short of a rockstar in the title role, and with support from Shane West and the always amazing Melinda Clarke -- not to mention newbie assassin-in-training Lyndsy Fonseca -- the cast doesn't disappoint.”
