After months of promotion and ever increasing expectations Katie Couric’s new talk show Katie premiered on September 10.  On today’s Daytime Confidential podcast members of the DC gang weighed in on her first episode, guests and what Couric will have to do to actually become the next Oprah.

Reviews by major publications have been mixed for Katie’s premiere, with the Los Angeles Times’ headline stating: “Katie Goes Splat.”

Katie Couric Under Fire After Comments on Kate Middleton's Weight




What better way to launch a new daytime talk show geared toward women than by starting a media storm about weight? Katie Couric has drawn ire following comments she made about Kate Middleton's size during a recent interview.

After praising Middleton—revealing the Duchess of Cambridge is at the top of her wish list to interview on her upcoming show, Katie—Couric said this of Prince William's wife:

"I think she needs to eat more because she’s so thin."

Oprah Winfrey Among Subs for Good Morning America's Robin Roberts




Get ready to wake up to Oprah in the morning. The Mighty O has been listed as one of several celebrity co-hosts tapped to sit in at Good Morning America, with Robin Roberts having temporarily departed the show for medical leave.

While Roberts is out, Winfrey,Katie Couric, Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Chris RockRob Lowe, Kelly Ripa, the entire cast of Modern Family and other surprise guests will fill in. An emotional Roberts told viewers:

I'm having to move up my schedule. I am very blessed. Forty percent of Americans can't even take a sick day, and here I know that I'm going to have a job when I come back.

Katie Couric has released deets on the first month of programming for her syndicated talk show Katie, debuting Sept 10. To launch the daily chatfest, Couric will be celebrating women who are "reinventing themselves".
